Peshawar, Aug 12: Pakistan boosted its military presence along its western border with Afghanistan on Tuesday, a day after allied US forces accidentally killed two Pakistani troops in the latest in a series of tension-raising border skirmishes.
Fresh Pakistani troops arrived at the Imal Khel post in the tribal border district of North Waziristan, while Pakistani Army helicopters were seen circling overhead, witnesses said.
On Monday, US troops patrolling the Afghan side of the border in southeast Paktika province called in fighter planes to pursue attackers fleeing towards Pakistan after they were fired on.
In the ensuing firefight, by both US ground and air troops, two Pakistani soldiers on their side of the border were killed and one was injured. The US military’s central command has confirmed the “unintended” deaths by friendly fire.
A Pakistani border guard on duty during the skirmish said the Pakistanis were on a routine patrol.
“We were on a routine patrol in the area when sudden ground fire was heard. Later on (US) helicopters also arrived,” the guard, who helped evacuate the wounded to a hospital in the district capital Miranshah said.
The area echoed with the thuds of rockets fired by US helicopters, the guard said, requesting not to be quoted by name.
The wounded Pakistani, identified as lance Naik Amjad, underwent surgery for a bullet wound to his abdomen and was listed in stable condition.

Welcome to Iraq.

sad...

The US is well known world wide for Friendly fire inncodents remember Desert Storm 1 and recently the rocket attacks from Appachi's on British Troops operating in Iraq!! They are just poorly diciplined troops.

Besides this really looks like an accident, if they wanted they could have done a lot worse!

and his once famous mantra was "my, countrymen, i will never let you down".

one dictator wanted to make pakistan a pure islamic state where the laws of allah and his rasool had to rule ( as he used to say "jahaN allah aur us ke rasul hi hukumrani ho gii), and now another dictator
wants to turn pakistan into a secular state... Zia did everything, though totally against national interest, to please uncle sam, only in such a way he could prolong his illegitimate power which was the sole guarantee for his life and now Musharraf is doing the same thing...Zia got one way ticket to heaven when his plane crashed myteriously, lets see when and how this dictator meets his fate. One thing is for sure, in today's world only strong democratic institutions can serve our interests.

i just want to know from any self respecting pakistani? how would usa have reacted to a friendly fire death of a marine at the hands of paksitani soldiers?
