Two more things that confuse me ..

Ok so this lady at the mosque scared creep out of me .. she said apparently two injections are mixed and vaccination delivered to the baby in one go .. that can cause some serious health issues to some babies , that is why hospital makes you sign up a form as well to evade any responsibility. She said you have the choice to get the vaccinations separately .. she said she did an istikhara for her baby before getting that vaccination :konfused: now this lady isnt very educated and half of what she said really didnt make sense to me … I thought I would ask though , just to be on the safer side .. anyone has any clue what she was talking about?

Second query, I have been told that recently hospitals in the UK have stopped giving newborns a bath at the hospital ! they just sort of wipe clean .. is there a specific health reason for not giving the baby a bath? I was thinking of insisting that they give him a bath , should I ?

Re: Two more things that confuse me ..

reason for no bath- not enough time anymore…the midwives are too busy. my kids were not given a bath, just cleaned. was fine. dont worry your only in hospital for a day, or 2, you can bathe her/him once home. i was terrified for the fiorst 3months, my mum bathed my first child. i honestly dont think you would be in a rush to be batheing, if its ur first. too scared.

relax cb, the docs and mw at my hosp were excellent. loved them. very reassuring and made me feel relaxed when i was panicing about every little thing. am sure urs will be too.

Re: Two more things that confuse me ..

Well the official reason for not giving them a bath is because they claim it’s best for the babys skin to not have a proper bath for a couple of days after birth. You can insist that they give baby a bath in the hospital but why bother - you can just do it when you get home and that way you know it’s done properly.

Regarding the vaccinations, I presume you are talking about the MMR vaccinations in which case the report that suggested a link to autism was discredited anyway.

Re: Two more things that confuse me ..

well here they not only gave bath to baby but they actually taught me how to give bath. I cant say anything about UK. and vaccination thingi heard it for the first time :konfused:

Re: Two more things that confuse me ..

Vaccinations… You have to trust your perdiatrician and ask him/her any questions you have.. It’s different in all countries! Please don’t listen to the aunties regarding vaccination… You need to trust your doc!

Re: Two more things that confuse me ..

i think you are talking about bcg its dried vial and mixed with saline to liquify…and two vaccines can b given in pakistan at quinvaxm is given which has 5 vaccines nthing happens

Re: Two more things that confuse me ..

My due date is 18 dec..few days are left.I live in UK.I have my husband only here..no relative..inlaws..family here..not even friends. If hospital staff is not giving bath to the newborn..thats not fair :frowning: Its too cold in uk..after few days we ll be having snow.temperature is in minus.hope i have normal delivery IA and be in good health to give my baby a bath at home.I pray God gives me strength to take good care of my baby IA .

Re: Two more things that confuse me ..

for first time moms in the UK don’t they have a nurse that comes to check on the baby at home?
doesn’t this nurse show you how to bathe the baby etc?

Re: Two more things that confuse me ..

^ you mean the community midwives Muzna… and yes they do, they’re actually very helpful.

Re: Two more things that confuse me ..

F3, I am in the UK too .. fighting the ugly mausam .. but hey keep strong, In Shaa Allah both baby and you will be fine .. like Brit Chick mentioned, the midwife pays you a visit almost one day after your get home , I guess you will have ample time with her to take you through the basics .. even though I will be insisting at the hospital for the baby to be given a bath .. I am thinking of all the pressure tactics I can possibly use , like make an innocent face at them, tell them sternly, keep insisting, refuse to leave the hospital without the baby having a bath , etc etc .. or as a last resort telling them, its a religious thing we gotta give baby a bath :cb:

Lets see if my tactics work .. but that wont be until January.. so you might try some of these tactics :lifey:

Re: Two more things that confuse me ..
