Re: Two 'Islamabads' in India
Correct. Mathura was renamed as 'Islamabad' by Aurangzeb after destroying a temple 'Keshava Deo temple'. BTW, which song mentions Mathura?
ye konsa city hai? Was it also called Islamabad?
Vrindavan is 10 kms away from Mathura. Lord Krishna was born in Mathura but he spent his childhood in Vrindavan. these two twons are one of the most sacred Hindu pilgrimage sites in India.

But why was she singing 'choR ke apne Kashi Mathura', while she was just going from Amber (Jaipur) to Agra?

How far Mathura is from Jaipur?

How far Mathura is from Jaipur?
Mathura is 48 kms from Agra, 160 km from Delhi and 192 km from Jaipur.

That means that Javed Akhtar is not good at geography, as he wrote lines 'choR ke apne kashi mathura' for Jodha bai on her wedding with Akbar. I thought that such lines were written as she was going to marry out of her faith, but I think she agreed to marry on the condition that she will get freedom to exercise her faith and which was granted by Akbar.
Re: Two 'Islamabads' in India
i don't think it's about the geographical locations of Kashi [Varanasi] and Mathura. Kashi, Mathura refer to 'sacred' places. 'Kashi Mathura' mohaavaratan bolaa jaataa hai jaise Musalmaan 'Makka Madina' kahte haiN.
Re: Two 'Islamabads' in India
I think she is asking Lord Krishna to leave his places and reside in her eyes. Baki Javed Akhtar sab jane :)
Re: Two 'Islamabads' in India
Chittagong? (Although now in Bangladesh).
Edit: Just noticed two cities have already been mentioned. Apparently Chittagong too had an Islamabad name attempt at some point.
Re: Two 'Islamabads' in India
Read that Jahangir was quite allergic with Boar. In Ajmer he allowed for construction of a temple to Vishnu's boar's avtar, but destroyed the boar image and threw it in a tank.
BTW, I'm reading 'The Hindus - An alternate history'. I'm surprised that the book got banned in India, as it covers all these facts about destruction of temples by Mughals. I just randomly selected the chapter 'Hindus in Mughal India'.
Because right wing has tendency to put in today's muslim the mistakes committed by muslims of past. It was rightly banned :)

Javed Akhtar's knowledge of Braj is awesome. Like "Ghanan Ghanan Ghan ghir aaye badra" and other songs in Lagan are proof of it.

appears correct. So in all the countries which were carved out from British India, there are cities which are / were named as Islamabad.

I don't think this is the reason for ban. The book has lots of funny and sarcastic remarks about Hindu mythology as well including some references that Laxman (Rama's brother) was interested in Sita. The writer does provide reference to such statements from religious material. It also had some strong points about no Rama Mandir in Ayudhiya till 16th century.

Yes, he has a good command on language and I was astonished to learn that Bhajan in Swades was also penned by him. May be he is inspired from Kabir, who is considered to be Muslim by some historians.

Islamabad.... I never know that was the name of cities before capital.

Change of name is mostly politically motivated

He is educated enough in literature and he is atheist born to muslim parents. His political leaning appears to be leftist at best.
