So, you are not talking about GOSSIP I guess? Unfortunately everyone in some way gossips every now and then: including you and me. I just found an interesting saying regarding gossip:

Perhaps what you talk about is more something that can be described as:
"calumny":
1. a falsification or misrepresentation intended to disparage or discredit another.
2. false charges brought about to tarnish another's reputation or standing.
If I would be sure that people were treating me in such a way that they were trying to discredit me I must agree with Slick_Star and would confront them and deal with them directly.

Oh dear.
From a GS POV:
you will be surprised if you will know the real gossip and backbiting people do off of public Gupshup forums - out on IM/emails/MSN etc. etc. :) Some of them actually turn out to be angels here. Such is life. We gotta live with it and avoid as much as possible.

i do that too ,i.e; discuss people behind their backs but my POV stays the same even if those people r with me , so i guess i'm not 2 faced rather outspoken, if i've something to say about anyone i'll just say that , whether or not that someone is present, so mostly people know about my likes and dislikes about them............does that make sense ??

Discussing someone behind their back is not the same as being two-faced. But yeah, when people are something else to your face and something else behind your back ABOUT you.. they're two-faced.. and I always tend to break ties with people like that. Its quite hurtful & not needed. Just be real people.

that's the best route to take as well. I do the same.

a clarity point: what i referred to here, is people back biting other people for things that are not directly hurting the back biters at all. the mixture of gossip and putting someone down is what i referred to.
