Well, its good to know they have taken care of all other problems & only thing left was twitter.

KARACHI: Social networking website Twitter has been restricted in Pakistan, Dawn News reported on Sunday.

According to the ministry of information technology, the website was banned due to blasphemous and inflammatory content. Calls for particiaption in inflammatory contests were being made on Twitter and it was due to this that such a step was taken.

Twitter is very popular in Pakistan and is also used by many prominent politicians and law-makers.

What do you expect... when you have a Federal Minister for Information Technology who should be in jail.

another step which will make a mockery of the government. I think that the government was facing a lot of pressure from Baloch tweeps, and on the other side during the past few days the trends there were #ShutUpClinton and against NATO. So maybe the government couldnt take the heat, threatened by 140 characters this time around. ;)

Maybe the policy makers think that burying their heads in sand will solve Pakistan's problems.

It will be back at some stage, just like they banned facebook before but these activities make a fool of the government.

Obviously twitter was biased against the government, they had to do it, and this the best thing to do to ban it!

One things for sure that the media has been able to blackout some news from the media but the alternate media has provided an international audience to the silenced public. This act shows the desperation of the government on one side and the power of the social media in the other side.
