Twenty20 - Why so much analysis ?

What is the point really ? I mean all this analysis regarding who is going to win the T20 WC ?

I enjoy Twenty20 games just as much as the next guy and I am not speaking from some high intellectual pedestal but come on…this is a format where it can take only 2-3 big scoring overs OR just 2-3 quiet overs OR just 2-3 quick wickets to tilt the balance from one side to the other.

Even an otherwise crappy batting side like Bangladesh can fancy their chances to win against technically much stronger sides. All that the Mahmidullahs and Naeem Islams of the world have to do is to wildly slog and hope to be around for 3-4 overs.

What the IPL has taught us is that no matter how great a team you have - T20 is essentially a crapshoot - anybody can win against anybody on any given day (unless one contesting team is “exceptionally” superior/inferior in quality). Who would have thought that Bangalore RC would reach the IPL finals ?

Trying to logically scrutinize T20 games (like many of our cricket pundits are inclined to do) is like analyzing horse manure really.

Admittedly , T20 is different from horse manure in that it is entertaining. Why not leave it at that ?

Re: Twenty20 - Why so much analysis ?

Yea I can feel last night India lost to NZ. :)

Re: Twenty20 - Why so much analysis ?

^ I meant to post this long ago.

That India has never won a T20 against NZ (a team that it has thrashed in other formats) and the fact that BD gave Australia and SL a run for their money in recent days only vindicates my point.

And to prove my point further....Scotland just gave England a scare.

Re: Twenty20 - Why so much analysis ?

good analysis some1 bra!

Re: Twenty20 - Why so much analysis ?

My money is on INDIA, SAF, AUS and NZ to contest the Semi-Final maybe a slight outside for SL or even WI instead of NZ or AUS

I guess a India vs. SAF/NZ Final

Re: Twenty20 - Why so much analysis ?

^ You did not include Pakistan and England, I can understand about Pakistan they are very unpredicted, but England is a formidable team and most experience in this type of cricket.
I think their chances of reaching Semis are high too. Australians look in good touch too, so my Semi Final teams are India, South Africa, England, and Australia.

Re: Twenty20 - Why so much analysis ?

^I started this thread wondering if analysis of T20 games wasn't useless given that any team can win on any given day with a bit of luck.

And you two are doing exactly that --- debating who will lift the WC T20 Cup.

In a format where you just need to survive for 20 overs - its anybody's game really.

Remember Zimbabwe defeated Australia in the last edition.

You said it. I wholeheartedly agree with u after Pakistan's abject performance today...
