Re: Twenty 20 in Pakistan, Come On Guys Pick a Team and Support Our Domestic Cricket
Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq has confirmed to the Pakistan cricket authorities he will play for Multan Tigers in the Twenty20 Cup tournament starting in Lahore from Monday.
"Inzamam has confirmed he will play for Multan but not in all the matches. The likelihood is he will come in during the knockout stage or in the final league match," a member of the Pakistan board domestic tournament monitoring committee said on Saturday.
However, Yousuf Youhana is leading one of the Lahore sides, which also includes Abdul Razzaq while vice-captain Younis Khan is going to lead the Peshawar Panthers side that will also have Arshad Khan, Yasir Hameed, etc.
"Except for Shahid Afridi, Asim Kamal, Danish Kaneria and Mohammad Sami all the other players who went to India have confirmed their participation in the Twenty20 Cup which should make it an exciting contest for the viewers and spectators," the official said.
He said Rana Naved and Shoaib Malik would be turning out for Sialkot Stallions while Shoaib Akhtar will be leading the Rawalpindi Rams team and Shabbir Ahmed will also play for Multan.
"The other Lahore side includes Salman Butt, Imran Farhat, Taufeeq Umar, Kamran Akmal, etc," he added.
Sources said due to pressure from the sponsors, ABN-AMRO and the Dubai-based Tens Sports channel which is telecasting the tournament, the Board had told the leading players who returned from India to make themselves available for the tournament which is being held for the first time in Pakistan.
"The sponsors in particular wanted Inzamam, Shoaib Akhtar and Afridi but while the first two are confirmed Afridi has a genuine problem that his father is very ill," the official said.
