Guys, I am looking for TV-VCR-DVD combo in one.
I checked out Walmart, they had extremely ugly and fat TV combos.
I was looking for more towards a flat panel TV. It should be small size like 15, 17 or 19 inches. I am going to keep this in my room to play DVD and VCR cassettes for exercise. The reason I want combo is that I won’t have to worry about the millions of In and Out wires.
Re: TV-VCR-DVD combo?
where are all the techies ..anyone?
I need to know if such TV exists.
Re: TV-VCR-DVD combo?
Here ya go:
Sylvania
Toshiba
Panasonic
Walmart is not the best place to go electronics shopping.
PS: Make sure its waterproof also. ![]()
Re: TV-VCR-DVD combo?
Thanks Tofibabs. I read the descriptions and not sure if they are like LCD completely flat panel....or only flat sceen with big behind. I might have to go and look into Bestbuys myself.
Re: TV-VCR-DVD combo?
You'll find plenty of LCDs with built-in DVDs, but I don't think there's any company that makes a LCD with a built in VHS player, let alone VHS+DVD.
The problem is that VHS players are so bulky that they would detract from the size of the flat TV.
Your best bet would be to get a LCD TV with built in DVD, and buy a VHS player to go with it.
Re: TV-VCR-DVD combo?
Thanks Maddy. I have another idea. I am buying a new laptop very soon with DVD player and everything in it. Is there a way I can connect my VCR to laptop then I can watch both VHS and DVD on my laptop? See I have some very good VHS that I will hate to see go wasted and I definetely want to continue to use them.
Re: TV-VCR-DVD combo?
I'm sure there probably is some way to connect a VHS player to a laptop. But you need to buy a special signal converter box for that I think.
How many VHS tapes do you have? What may be cheaper is to go to one of those shops that will copy VHS tapes to DVD. There's one quite near my office, I've seen a couple around Toronto, and I'm sure there will be some way out there where you live :p
Re: TV-VCR-DVD combo?
I have thaught about converting them, but I don't know how much it is going to cost me. Any ideas? I might be buying more cassettes in the future. They are not completely obsolete you know :p
What is signal converter called which I can hook up with laptop and and will play VSH for me?
Re: TV-VCR-DVD combo?
I would suggest an LCD tv and a DVD/VCR combo. that way there would wouldn’t be that many cables and it would let you convert your VHS tapes to DVD for convenience.
If you want the converter you can look for something like this: Hauppauge WinTV USB2
Re: TV-VCR-DVD combo?
Ooh problem. VHS to DVD services probably won't do your exercise videos because they will be copyrighted.
I'd recommend Tofibaba's idea.
Re: TV-VCR-DVD combo?
r u serious??
:o
I will see into both options
Tofibaba…the link you posted…does it only broadcasts TV to the laptop or does it actually work with the VCR to play tapes on laptop? I have an extra VCR which I can use along with this converter…only if this can be hooked up to it.
Re: TV-VCR-DVD combo?
From the website:
It will probably have composite in a/v connections to allow you to hook up a vcr.
By the way, you are aware that laptop screens have quite narrow viewing angles compared to an LCD tv aren’t you. That means if you’re moving around while exercising, from anything other than directly in front of the screen you may not be able to see it clearly. Obviously not an issue if you’re sitting down and watching a movie but something to bear in mind if you’re going to be moving around in front of it.

never thaught about that. Thanks for bringing up the good point RaMo.
Yes there will be movement, I won't be sitting at one place. I guess when I am buying the laptop I should check if I will be able to watch standing little further from it with some movement.
I will find out if my VHS can be recorded on DVD for cheap prices and there is no issue with copyright. If it is going to cost me more then I bought the cassettes for then I will go with the convertor as it can be used in the future. I already have extra VCR which can come in handy if I decide on convertor. Thank you everyone for great input.
Re: TV-VCR-DVD combo?
I actually own one of the older models of that. It support all older analog signals so u can hook up cable connection or a VCR.
