TV and fitness???

how well do the gadgets shown on TV really work??

:frowning: I gained 3 Ibs in one week just 'coz I have been couch potato for this week and did nothing except watching TV, eating, and sleeping all day long. I was watching some fast work out devices on TV that promise to shape your abdominal and thigh msucles even without exercise…is this true by any chance?

so here I am asking what is the best idea to lose weight?
Exercise?
Running?
Dieting?
or these fast-abs machine?

Poor me… :teary:

hey Gemini! hope you are enjoying the holidays but sorry to hear that your body’s natural adaptation of storing food is making your “weight scale’s dial” to register extra numbers.

ok back to the topic. I have also seen these excersice machines on the tv and i also wonder if they actually do what they are suppose to do. But if you carefully notice, most of the machines are only targeted for one type of muscles. Usually the abs, chest or thighs. In order to lose weight, your entire body must be burning the stored supplies and not just one part of the body. For example, lets say you buy the fast ab machine and start using it. Well you will begin to see that your stomach is getting tigher and then eventually the fourpack will begin to appear but then again, it is only because you are toning the muscles and not because you are losing the fat. So the best exercise machines are basically the ones that target the entire body like “cardio”. Running, Cycling, Swimming are best for losing some pounds but then I am also mostly a couch potato and I barely do those things specially in winter. So I would say, try to take a jog maybe once in a while and if possible a treadmill for the house would be great. I dont know much about those Dieting regimes…never tried them. hope that helps.

exercise and dieting (proper one) ...

do gupshup search, half of this forum is full of weight loss threads. some really good tips and advices are available on those thread.

I watch TV and can exercise at the same time when I'm in the mood. I also go to the gym twice a week to stay fit. I don't think sitting there watching TV will add weight to you unless you're also munching away at junk food, etc. Just try to stay active overall and refrain from junk food and carbs as much as possible.

faisaljawed007 so true... atleast for me having fun in holidays means eating alot of junk food so it is that time of year once again :(
I might not be really concious about weight gain but still need to tone muscles, so my main question was do these machines really work and I guess they do..lets see what happens next...Swimming, cycling, running sounds good but it needs alot of determination and punctuality and I need to work on it.
Thanx for your advice, helped alot :-)

batameez alrite ...by the way care to shed some light on "proper one."

** surror** being lazy explains it all.. I know there are plenty of threads about weight loss but to be exact I was just wondering about these fitness machines shown on TV. :-)

sweetpie watching TV, doing nothing all day long, eating parathas, munching on chips 'n nimko, cotton candy adds alot of calories.. I need to take care of it sigh

Thanx everyone.

Ppl don’t listen to her.
She is in such a good shape I have no
clue why she is complaining.

^ Sajal baji :o looks could be deceiving.. come over and I 'll let you know how unhealthy I am as well as I gained weight soon after I came back from your house.. :-p

:stuck_out_tongue:
moti
:mocking:

a balanced one .. with less carb and more vegs and fruit .. and cut down on snacks ...

**The females in my family say
Winsor Pilates really works. I have never experienced
it so I can't vouch for it myself.

As for me, no matter how I eat, a few trips to the
gym, few times a week along with reduced level
of stress is the best way to go.**
