DO you feel like kids benefit for extra tutoring outside the school? Private programs that are after school or on weekends. In U.S, there are programs like Kumon.

In Pakistan, seems like every child is getting extra tutoring after school. (they call it tuition).

Is school not enough?

It depends on a lot of factors.

• The quality of the school and teaching staff - some schools’ academic programs are behind what they should be - some teachers don’t teach and they just present a lesson and expect the parents to explain it to the child. Extra learning is almost a necessity to esnure your child can keep up.
• Is your child an independent learner and doesn’t need any extra help?
• Do you as a parent have the time and the patience to provide your child with the extra help they need (one of my sisters doesn’t have the patience, so she did hire a tutor).

If your child is an independent learner and the school’s curriculum is satisfactory in your opinion, then tutoring for the sake of tutoring isn’t necessary. Tutoring is an extra to help a child keep up. Getting ahead is great, but not necessary.
