After watching the tv shows I’m just in love with this beautiful language.
Went Turkey this year and I’ve feeling soo motivated to learn it now because not many spoke english so there’s a incentive to learn if you’re thinking to travelling there. Anyone else knows some of it or has tried learning it using books cds etc.
Re: Turkish Language!
I would go for it, if Rumi had not written his poetry in Persian.
Re: Turkish Language!
I was given a persian book as a gift but dont have a way to practice or speak it with anyone but I guess it will be easier to learn it as the structure's the same? Grammar always a bummer no matter which language your taking, turkish is probably one of the toughest but I want to give it a go because I love the sound of the language and people are absolutely gorgeous, only two words I said on my trip were merhaba and teşukkur ederim and their faces will lighten up and they'd start conversing in Turkish :) I find it fascinating that they are not obsessed with english like we are...
Re: Turkish Language!
Turkish is quite an easy language compared to Persian.
Re: Turkish Language!
If your first is Urdu, Farsi's a piece of cake but you have to put a little effort in obviously when memorising vocabulary, many of my cousins in Pakistan have done it till the bachelors level even masters.
Re: Turkish Language!
Bella Rouge, it's easy to pick up.. I know enough to get by now..
I read somewhere that kids pick it up more quickly than any other language in the world.. Ataturk standardised it and it's one of the few languages which is always spoken the way it's written (for ex an 'A' at the start of the word is always pronounced like an 'Ahh' rather than flatly as in 'apple').. Differences in word order and so on shouldn't be a big deal for those of us already speaking languages other than English..
