It’s my sisters birthday in 2 weeks’ time and I am planning a dinner for her at my place. Around 10 people
I want to go with Turkish cuisine and need some ideas please. Tried and tested recipes will be much appreciated.
You can make ‘manti’ (dumplings made with seasoned beef topped with a garlicky yogurt sauce) I don’t have a recipe as I’ve only tried this dish at a restaurant but it was really delicious!
I haven’t ever cooked any authentic turkish food myself, but I love going to turkish restaurants! For appetizers, I would definitely do those phyllo cigars, with either haloumi cheese or meat inside, served with the yogurt/cucumber dip. You can also do the zucchini fritters for appetizers, and the eggplant dip. If you want to do a soup course, turkish lentil soup is really good.
For the main course, any type of kebab of course, and the turkish cabbage salad. Lamb chops will work as well, and for a side dish do the eggplant casserole or stuffed eggplants.
Easiest dessert is baklava of course! You could do Turkish Delight as well, or even a semolina cake.
End the meal with mint tea or strong Turkish coffee
You can find recipes for all of these online easily.
