Anyone had experience flying Turkish? We are considering their US-Karachi service. What has been your experience?
Re: Turkish Airlines
hubby has had nightmares with them.......cancelled flights and leaving people stranded etc.
he had to fight for a group of 20 once in the recent past.....airline had mechanical problems in Istanbul and was gonna leave the poor folks who couldn't even speak for themselves in English stranded at the airport for two days.......
fortunately he was able to get them some food vouchers and accommodations until the next day when the airline suddenly "found" another plane to complete the journey (likely cuz the cost of two nights accommodation and food for the whole group was more than they wanted to shell out).
Re: Turkish Airlines
I've been on flights with them. It's an okay airline.
Re: Turkish Airlines
Yeah, I've flown with them a few times this year and prob will do again within the next month or so.. The flight out from Istanbul to Karachi tends to be quiet, every time I've flown there I've had 3 seats to myself and the food is really nice.. Coming back west seems a lot busier.. Also the times I've flown with them they've never arrived late..
The airport itself is unbelievably expensive tho, prices are ridiculous compared to the UK and US.. Things aren't just a little more they're literally several times more expensive than at other airports.. A can of coke in the departure lounge - 6 euros!!! Also the airport staff are nowhere near as nice/helpful as in other parts of the world, I was with a guy walking to the gate + when some woman came over and said 'can I ask you something?' he simply said 'no' and ignored her!! I was shocked they could get away with being that rude.. Seriously need to learn the meaning of customer service..
Re: Turkish Airlines
I had heard really good things from a friend and the fares are so much cheaper than the other major airlines.
Muzna you’ve got me worried. ![]()
Re: Turkish Airlines
I don't think you should be worried......I'm sure there are many more good experiences than bad ones.
Just be aware of what could happen.......forewarned is forearmed.
Re: Turkish Airlines
*i once flew with them from Toronto to Delhi via Istanbul...the service on the ground was dismal while in the air wasn't too bad. flights were on-time and overall it was OK. *
Re: Turkish Airlines
Hm. So it seems like if there are issues, they are at the airports. Concerned given the flight with a toddler.
Re: Turkish Airlines
One of our friend's mom travels back and forth between Karachi and USA and almost always flies Turkish Airlines.
She has good things to say about it...she told that the fares are really good, which actually suits her because she travels about 2-3 times a year.I heard the food is ok though.
Re: Turkish Airlines
^ Hm. Good to know she's had a good experience.
Re: Turkish Airlines
had a good experience with them - flew in June 2011 to Jeddah from NYC and then to Istanbul from Jeddah and back to NYC.
The flight crew was awesome - very polite and courteous.. didnt have any issues in Jeddah or Istanbul at any leg of the flight so overall it was a calm and pleasant journey1
Re: Turkish Airlines
they share code with PIA on some routes, rest you can imagine yourself :)
but i have really liked their ads. "feel like a star"
Re: Turkish Airlines
On board its pretty good.... In laws always fly with them between denmark and karachi.... No problems at all.... But then they dont need any kinda assistance from the workers at the airport....I myself havent had any issues though once they were refusing print outs of boarding passes and wanted proper boarding passes which they gave us no heads up bout...which led to a huge line of ppl trying to get boarding passes at the desks.... I had to bully my way through.... But it still wasnt so bad.... I just think....if u dont need assistance....u will do just ine....just get on the plane and its all set :)And u know what.... Ppl always post negetive exps and rarely positive ones cuz u forget the good but can always remember the bad.I remember booking myself to fly with air france and had mudget with me....i went online to find some reviews for CDG airport....and i got a mini heart attack....everyone was saying it was the most pathetic airport with rhe rudest workers ever.... Too late i couldnt get outta it...2 yrs on, its my preferred airline and transit airport.... I have had only the nicest of exp and they are so utterly helpful with midget....plus from here, the ticket trates are the same as turkish! Point of the matter is....did i fgo back to all those review sites and post a good review of the airport? NO. :)
Re: Turkish Airlines
Expensive ....with rude staff !!
Re: Turkish Airlines
Expensive? Wich route?
Re: Turkish Airlines
^ Wondering the same thing! It's like 2/3 the price of most of the other airlines I've checked!
Re: Turkish Airlines
İt is expensive for people living in Turkey(ie buying ticket from turkey) bcoz of KDV(various tax )in comparision to other airlines..
