Turkish airlines has started their service from Houston to Pakistan. Wanted to see if someone can share their journey with them. How the inn-flight food is, how is the layover at Istanbul and how is their service.
If anyone has traveled with them to any other route and can talk about their experience that would be great as well.
My wife and kids are traveling to Pakistan at the end of this month.
I have traveled on Turkish Airlines a few times (Vienna-Istanbul-Karachi and back), but the last time I did was almost 10 years ago. Back then their service was not good at all, but they were our only viable option to go from Austria to Pakistan. Since Emirates started the Vienna-Dubai route, hardly anyone I know uses Turkish Airlines to go to Pakistan anymore. That's because they are not really much cheaper than Emirates. And also because most people here would go to Lahore, so flying Turkish would mean an additional domestic flight.
The few who still do use them however tell me that their service has significantly improved in the last few years, especially since they joined the Star Alliance. Some people tell me it's actually much better than most major carriers in Europe now.
Thanks Umer. I traveled myself on Turkish in 2001 from Chicago to Karachi and it wasn't as good. That's why I m trying to figure out if there is something that I need to do to prepare them. The reason to get Turkish was that they were offering some great prices since they have just started their service from Houston.
Istanbul is nice city. Stay in Sultanahmet area which has Haya Sophia mosque, Topkapi palace, Grand Bazar (covered). And a tram goes all the way up to Aksaraey station. There are few stop in between having shops on both sides. Then go to Taksim square. have foods and walk and see shops on Istiklal street. Go to Esentepe (hills), visit trendy shops and on the way back downhill view magnificent Bosphorus and the bridge that connects Asia with Europe. It looks tiny from above. Food is the best thing in Turkey. Doner kebaps, Gyro's and plenty of delicious sweets having raisins....
i have a bunch of family members here in dfw who took advantage of this awesome deal from Turkish Airlines ($885 i believe R/T) and are flying houston-->khi this december

a happy group on the flight! :)
Wow what price difference. I am going to Pk via dubai from Netherlands. I did pay 460 euro for a return ticket. I did read that a travel agent is cheaper then booking your own ticket. That's not true!! U just need to know a few rules and u can save bucks in couple of minutes
