TAI to Modernize Pakistani F-16s

ANKARA: Turkish Aerospace Industries, Inc. (TAI), which is Turkey’s center of aerospace, has acquired an international success by signing a contract regarding the modernization of PAF F-16s.

Under the program, the financial dimension of which is around 75 million US Dollars, a total of 42 F-16s will be upgraded at TAI’s facilities in 46 months starting from October 2010.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), regarding the start of proposal process of PAF F-16 Modernization Program, was signed between TAI and PAF during IDEAS Defense Exhibition in September 2006 in Karachi, Pakistan.

This was long due. I read somewhere this will put F16 at block 50. Which is like 4.5 gen fighter?

Nonetheless, PAF will emerge as a deadly force by 2010-2015. Production of JF-17, possible (read very likely) induction of J-10 and its B variant, F16s, possibly UAV as well.

Future holds good prospects for PAF and Armed forces. :k:

Yes the MLU-3 at TAI Turkey will bring our block 15 to block 50 standards with marginal differences between the newer block 52+.
