we are planning a short vacations to turkey, I need to know places to visit. one question is Antalya worth visiting? we have one week and will be travelling wth a naughty toddler as well. all tips and suggestions are welcomed thankx in advance
Re: turkey
When are you thinking about going? If you're planning to go anytime other than summer, I'd skip it, as it's a sea resort area and the fall and winter will be rainy and chilly.
There is so much to see and do in Turkey, and the different parts of the country are so unique from each other, that I recommend you decide what is most important to you and build your itinerary from there.
I'm going to Turkey for 7-10 days in early October. We'll be starting off in Istanbul for the first 5 or say days, and then going to the Aegean Coast to see Izmir, Ephesus & Selcuk. I am more interested in history & ruins, so I know that I cannot leave Turkey without seeing Ephesus, The Temple of Artemis and the Cave of The Seven Sleepers (which is mentioned in the Quran in Surah Kahf.
TripAdvisor is an excellent, excellent source. There Turkey forums is unmatched....I've pretty much planned my whole trip from the advice I've gotten from there lol.
From what I've been told, Turkey is extremely family/child/toddler friendly.

Ok, so then Antalya would be a good option. Plan for 4 days in Istanbul at least, there is so much to do and see, this will just scratch the surface. From what I've learned, domestic travel in Turkey is pretty cheap...Atlas Air, Pegasus Air, Onur Air etc....the flight time from Istanbul to Antalya is about an hour and 15 min I believe.
In Antalya, you can do just the beach/coast thing, or if you are interested in historical ruins, you can venture out to the ancient cities of Termessos and Perge. There are cruises along the Mediterranean coast line as well.
Re: turkey
Huby not interested in historical stuff :(
Re: turkey

Re: turkey
Ok, so I suggest you spend 4 days in Istanbul (all the mosques, topkapi palace, aya sophia, basilica cistern, grand bazaar, spice bazaar, bosphorous cruise, rumeli fortress) and then go on to antalya/mediterranean coast for the remainder of your trip

Me and my brother are going istanbul and have booked a hotel there for 6 nights. I don't want to spend more money on accommodation so wondered will we get bored in Istanbul for 6 days?

No, you definitely won't get bored in Istanbul for 6 days...there is so much to do and see, both on the european and asian sides. I highly recommend you plan out your trip via tripadvisor. You can get detailed itineraries there in the istanbul forum on how to plan out your week.
Re: turkey
I would suggest a day in Byuk Ada, the largest island near istanbul, no cars, scooters, no noise on the roads, green and beautiful sea all around.
