Y all of sudden this r heated. US it due to internal political gain for RTE or some genuine cause behind it.
Re: Turkey vs Netherlands
well, the turks are stupid cuz they try to join the EU, while the EU does not want them…so ofcourse things will heat up…
At the end of the day its all talk…and no action…as always its another TOPI DRAMA
Re: Turkey vs Netherlands
Mehh.. Dutch elections are coming up, that’s why the drama.
Re: Turkey vs Netherlands
One thing is very interesting here that both countries have elections coming up so they are cashing up the nationalism vibes just like how trump did here or Modi in India etc. A typical formula which works everytime either on the name of nationalism or religion.
So this whole thing looks artificial to me and hopefully will settle down peacefully.
Re: Turkey vs Netherlands
Dutch-Turkish ties were already sour in april last year when a Dutch Turkish columnist was arrested for criticizing Erdogan in her tweets, then there was this coup attempt which caused tension in the Dutch Turkish community. They should have simply allowed the Turkish official to enter NL…
Compared to this Geert Wilders dude, Trump is an angel.
Re: Turkey vs Netherlands
Turkish leadership used to be more diplomatic this guy goes into incoherent frothing in the mouth rants. He is not doing his country any favors by acting like a maniac engaging in name calling and making threats. Europeans would love nothing more than to make this lunatic as an excuse and put restrictions on Turkish people.
Re: Turkey vs Netherlands
Erdogan have got big mouth, he talks more and big and acts less, although he have done wonders for his country and made it one of the finest, but since the failed coup attempt he have gone maniacs…
He should take things on the merit, on the other hand, Holland should know that it have to treat Ministers of other country well and need to observe diplomoatic norms…
So what was wrong in Turk Minister to talk with Turkish Community? It was not going to effect anything in their, she was not talking to some terrorist group or some anti-Dutch group…
I believe this was a bad move by Dutch Govt but language and actions of Turk President was uncalled for
Re: Turkey vs Netherlands
If you let one rival use the position of power to influence vote than that does not look just and you seem to be aiding one side who already has issues with human rights violations. Appearing to be a lunatic can never benefit his nation.
Re: Turkey vs Netherlands
Most of media center believe this is not for real. Just political stunt before election and referendum
Re: Turkey vs Netherlands
Now here is one unique message by Turk President. Too bad he didnt mention how may marriages are required..
Erdogan urges Turks in Europe to ‘have five children’
ANKARA: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Friday urged the Turks in Europe to have five children, telling the millions-strong diaspora they were the continent’s “future” as a bitter dispute festered between Ankara and Brussels.
Turkey and Europe are locked in diplomatic crisis after Germany and the Netherlands blocked Turkish ministers from campaigning for a ‘yes’ vote in next month’s referendum on expanding Erdogan’s powers.
Erdogan has repeatedly accused EU states of behaving like Nazi Germany over what he sees as discrimination against Turks, in comments that have caused outrage across the continent.
“From here I say to my citizens, I say to my brothers and sisters in Europe, educate your children at better schools, make sure your family live in better areas, drive in the best cars, live in the best houses,” said Erdogan.
“Have five children, not three. You are Europe’s future.”
“This is the best answer to the rudeness shown to you, the enmity, the wrongs,” he said in a televised speech in Eskisehir, a city south of Istanbul.
Some 2.5 million Turkish citizens resident in Europe are eligible to vote in elections in their homeland. But millions more people living in EU states have Turkish origins.
Erdogan, a father of four, has previously urged women in Turkey to have at least three children to help boost the population, in comments denounced by women’s rights activists.
