ANKARA: Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday announced that his government would lift a ban on wearing headscarves in public institutions as part of reforms to boost rights.
“We are lifting the ban in public institutions,” said the prime minister.
In my opinion it was about time they did this!! Whats your opinion??
Re: Turkey lifts ban on headscarves in public institutions
I’d assumed the ban was lifted ages ago after he came to power (esp as his own wife wears hijab)..
I saw women working in hospitals there who wore headscarves but they were cleaners etc, not those on reception or working as doctors or nurses.. It’s a bit sinister now I think about it..
Re: Turkey lifts ban on headscarves in public institutions
Isn’t it ironic the thread is about Turkey which has allowed (and even forced women) to not wear hijab? Can’t you even read?
Also, apart from very very few Islamic countries, vast majority of them do allow women not to wear hijab. And wearing hijab is not forced.
Some non-msulim or so called secular countries on the other hand do not allow women to wear Islamic or religious attire. And still they consider themselves champions of freedom of expression!
Re: Turkey lifts ban on headscarves in public institutions
Talk sense please.
Only in Saudi Arabia there is the law to wear Hijab / Niqab. I can’t remember any other Islamic country where they force non Muslims to wear hijab.
Really you should check your facts before u send a message else you will make monkey out of yourself.
Re: Turkey lifts ban on headscarves in public institutions
Iran is another but they aren’t too strict about it (you can show a lot of hair, push it right back etc).. I can’t think of any others who make hijab mandatory..
