What are some of the way you guys make it so its yummy?
this is also to say that i am supposed to cook turai today, so any recipes sometime soon will be appreciated, else i will have to go the usual way: make masala and add turai , cook and bhoonify. ![]()
Noooooo. Don;t do that!!! Slice up the turai's, slice zyada sa onion, add both to a skillet with warm oil. Add salt, turmeric(little bit), sliced green chillies, red crushed pepper and let all of them cook till both onion and turai's look almost sauteed. Should take about 15-20 mins. Add chopped tomatoes and cook for another 10 mins. Sprinkle some lemon juice and ur done.
Or else you can add the tomato paste together with the other ingredients at thebegining.Stir that thick paste constituting all what Fefe told you about ( green chillies, salt, turmeric powder, ginger-garlic paste, red chilly powder+ tomatoe paste). When you see oil forming a layer on top of that bhoona hua masala, add Tori and after a while keep a lid on it. Leave it on a low flame for about 15 to 20 mins.
The toris are quite innocent, they 'd be done before you know it. So, watch out for that. Enjoy!

Femme, by the time i got to your recipe, it was too late :( I made it the usual way and except the extra mirchi, it turned out pretty good.
But will try it your way next time, InshaAllah. I was wondering though, turai doesnt take long to cook, so it means when you add it with onions, the onions are like "kharay huay"?Or do you guys like khara hua masala? (I hope you know what i mean by this :D )
Minerva: We usually add tomatoes after the onions have been sauteed. YOu mean to say that just add everything at the same time??Hmm.... sounds interesting, will have to try that too, 2nd time after next :D
Thanks girls!!
Ira I don;t like thick, red pasty masala with a nazuk vege like turai! The onions will not be hard but soft and sauteed by the time the turai's r done. I like the colour, taste and appearance much better the way I make them. Do try it. and don;t forget lots of dhaniya on top.
