My point with the Made in China is that what you can buy in dubai, you can also buy the same product, probably for the same price in Pakistan. There is no exclusivity/price difference/restriction on import for sale anymore. And from what I’ve observed, there is no value for people for products that are manufactured in China. My khala visited from Pakistan, and she was quiet frankly disgusted that a big name brand product was at the end of the day was also made in China, and she basically commented “I can get this same thing for 50 rupees at Sunday bazaar”, which to my understanding is the day when everything made in China is sold

China makes various quality of same product and price related to quality. Big name brand and made in china will not equal to 50 rupay wali product at Sunday bazar. China is doing business for everyone, but quality differ with price.

Everything, and name brands are already available in Pakistan.

Chocolates are always good gift item…

Yes I am aware of that, but to the general public, they only see Made in China and are aware of the quality of product they have available to them. So to them everything that is made in China is of the same quality, but has been marked up or down according to where it is being sold.

I am sorry but most Pakistanis won’t appreciate the dark variety especially with high cacao percentage.

High cacao dark chocolate isn’t necessarily bitter, especially quality blends the use real butter and sugar.

I have seen unsaid expectation for gifts in Pakistan. Always saw my father and mother going to Pakistan with freaking tonns of bags full of gifts for aadhi duniya kai log !! I still remember this particular relative who never used to take any gifts for anyone in pakistan other then his mother and father and my god , everyone used to see him as kanjoos and what not!

No doubt that this expectation of gifts is reciprocated by them in what ever way they can for example by having you over for a dawat, or , handing some money to your kids etc ..

But problem is that carrying all that weight through the immigration can really undermine the travelling experience. Something many people just dont realize until they travel themselves !

In our culture, people don’t really expect to be brought gifts when people visit, even if the relatives are from abroad. Visiting relatives are considered guests and for hospitality reasons, you never ask for/expect anything from your guests. Ever.

That said, as a guest, you are also expected to be gracious. Most people do bring a gifts for this reason.

My afghan friends take lots of gifts for their relatives when they visit Afghanistan just like we do.
There is an expectation on people going back to bring gifts.

heck my husbands 5 yr old niece asked m that uncle brought me gifts why didn’t you ?
