what nonsense! arent they already attacking military every other week? who are they trying to scare away with their cowardly threats, they are saying they got exclusive report about the operation in NW. perhaps they got it from US headquarters in Afghanistan? :halo:

after the Kamra attack, alot of people have now started to say, Pak army should launch an operation, enough of these savages. we need to get rid of them, not because US is pressurizing, but for our own good. do you guys agree?

On August 3, The Wall Street Journal reported Pakistani and US officials were considering joint counter-terrorism campaigns in Afghanistan and Pakistan against Haqqanis and Taliban fighters.

The report said the campaigns would mark an upturn in cooperation between the two countries after more than a year of rancorous relations, since the US raid that killed Osama bin Laden.

Pakistani officials later denied any agreement with Washington for a joint operation in North Waziristan, and said “routine” actions on each side of the border “should not be mistaken for ‘joint operations’”.
Washington has long demanded Pakistan take action against the Haqqanis, which the United States accused of attacking the US embassy in Kabul last September and acting like the “veritable arm” of Pakistani intelligence.
Pakistan has in turn demanded Afghan and US forces do more to stop Pakistani Taliban militants crossing the border to launch attacks on its forces.

Pakistan says 35,000 of its people, including more than 3,000 soldiers, have been killed as a result of terrorism since the 9/11 attacks and the US-led invasion of neighbouring Afghanistan.

If we want to save Pakistan and move it in modern world we need to get rid of these animals once and for all, every single one of them. Deal with them the same way they treat innocent Pakistani, just eliminate them, no prisoners. We should not get into good TTP and bad TTP, They are all the same.

These “sources” in army headquarters are one of the biggest reason we are in the current mess.

Nevertheless, if an operation gets underway, my prayers and well wishes to the soldiers who will lay their lives on the line. Pity they have to pay for the madness of some of their superiors. It could all begin in a couple of days after Eid.

As for saving Pakistan and moving it into the modern world, we’ll need to hunt more than just the Talibans - banned religious organizations, criminal scums that hold entire cities hostage, religious bigots and zealots, intolerant fools, and corrupt influentials (politicians and establishment) also need to be put onto the frying pan sooner rather than later.

agree with both of you, TTP and other banned outfits need to be dealt ruthlessly. there should be no second thoughts about this. getting rid of this cancer is the only to restore peace and prosperity in our country.

Recently, Kiyani had said, that doubts on war on terrorism could lead to civil war. there are certainly no good taliban, maybe for US. but certainly not for Pakistan.

If they want to carry out the operation, it should be a full operation. Any half hearted and limited operation will create problems. The operation should be objectives bound and not time bound, seal NWA from Afghanistan and the rest of the country. Let the people out of there after rigorous checking, and then carry out the operation. The objective should be to capture/kill the higher command of TTP.

It is easy to see that these terrorists are showing signs of nervousness. They responded to the speculation about a joint operation in NWA by issuing a threat against the Pakistani army. These terrorists have already targeted GHQ in Rawalpindi, a naval base in Karachi, and the Minhas base of the PAF at Kamra last week. We encourage the Pakistani army to remain vigilant against these terrorists. At the same time, we want to make it clear that we have no intentions to step our boots inside Pakistani territory. But we fully support Pakistan in its fight against insurgents, and have encouraged the Pakistani government to target those who are working against our efforts to stabilize the region. With that said, ultimately, it will be up to the Pakistani army to decide the best course of action. We stand by Pakistan and hope to use our renewed alliance against these terrorists.

I hope by boots, Colonel, you also mean the gunship helicopters that violate Pakistan’s airspace.

Anyway, almost all of us want these terrorist scums sent to where they came from, but it’s hard to deny that a fair few of them are USA’s leftover from the Afghan-Soviet War. Nevertheless, your sentiments - and more importantly, you taking the time to share them here - are very much appreciated.

So keeping up with the US tradition to help Pakistan, hopefully you guys would be hospitable to the TTP guys evicted from NWA and provide them with a safe abode in Eastern Afghanistan.

Exactly. They are all the same. Those who are CURRENTLY not attacking Pakistan are attacking and conspiring against OTHER countries, most of which happen to be Muslims too. And it is Pakistan's responsibility, both morally and by law, to not let our land be used against other countries.
It is important strategically as well. Because once those GOOD Taliban are done over powering the country they are attacking, they will do the same to Pakistan in order to establish their "khilafat" here as well.

A genocide will rid you of probably one generation. But then if you keep teaching and quoting from the Quran to the young minds that these kaafirs are your enemies and kill them wherever you find them and that stop it with your hands first, if you can't, then with your speech, if you still can't, then consider it bad in your heart (not exactly quoted). There are several other things in the Quran and Ahadees which needs a proper and better explanation/justification before we teach them to our kids. We need to re-identify our heroes and villains in history. e.g. Ghazi Ilm Deen shaheed is regarded as a hero while Mumtaz Qadri who did exactly the same thing raises concerns now, at the least. If we just keep killing, while not changing the circumstances that produce these 'animals', then we will just keep producing them again and again. We need a thorough review of our history, religious beliefs, curriculum etc.

US/Afghans are not going to fence and seal the border. because, if they do, when an attack occurs in Afghanistan, who are they going to blame to hide their own failures?

exactly, these extremists need to be pour out fom every facet of our society. its not rocket science to figure out from where these guys are getting their fundings. and these well funded madresas that they go to at a very young age, and come out all sorts of wrong perceptions. how many of these madresas are actually registered? why the govt is hesitating in demolishing these illegal madresas who are preaching hatred against others, carry illegal activities there and end up taking lives of other fellow muslims. there should be no holds barred policy against these extremists.

Pakistani-Afghan border is impossible to seal because its just too big, too mountainous and has hundreds of caves and secret passageways.

Its a fool endeavor.

Thanks CENTCOM, but Pakistan Army lacks the tool necessary to conduct COIN Warfare.

Pakistan is equipped with Cobra Gunships which were used by USA in Vietnam. Its 40 year old technology. Pakistan urgently needs advanced Gunships such as AH-1Z Viper Gunships.

Pakistan also needs IFV’s, as Tanks are too cumbersome too slow moving and cause too much collateral damage. The Stryker or Bradley fighting Vehicles will greatly assist Pakistan.

Pakistan’s F-16’s also lack the Targeting Pods to take out entrenched Taliban infantry. These pods can deliver precision munition but avoid collateral damage.

So please assist Pakistan in giving its forces the tools it need to conduct this kind of warfare.

Because Pakistani Tactics is to use heavy armor backed by air strikes and artillery bombardment makes the entire offensive very slow moving, giving time for TTP to withdraw but in return causing large number of civilian casualties.

Pakistan army officials have raised this issue with Americans many times before and they have made it clear that without border control, its just impossible to be successful in this operation. if they cant really seal the border, surely, they can fence and mine it and beef up border security.

Fence is pointless as it can be easily cut.

Mines would do the trick but there would be a lot of backlash from human rights groups as innocent kids can step on those mines and lose limbs.

You would need hundreds of thousands of men to effectively seal the entire border which is not possible as there aren't that many troops.

Best option is to create an anti-taliban force among the tribes like the Lashkars, and deep cover operatives within the TTP, aerial surveillance, drone strikes, and have a quick reaction force which can easily seal any pocket of TTP and defeat them in piece meal.

I think the reason they don't want to put a fence is that** the fence would clearly mark the border**.
Afghanistan never accepted the Durand Line. This is why it opposed Pakistan's UN membership after its creation.

It is in interest of Afghanistan to leave the border undefined and thus keep its stakes on a larger area.

They are self sufficient.

TTP sympathizers in Karachi and elsewhere in Pakistan send them funds along with Arab and other foreign fighters who come with Money to fund their operations.

Most of their weapons are made by themselves.

TTP is nothing more than the after effect of Pakistan using Jihad as an instrument of foreign policy to project power.

Pakistan created these guys to fight India but now Pakistan has lost control over these groups and they have turned their guns on Pakistan and want to create a Taliban like state in Pakistan.
