ISLAMABAD: Commenting on reports that the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has nominated him for negotiations, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has said the militant group should select its own representatives for the peace talks.
He said in a statement issued on Saturday that the PTI had full faith in the four-member committee formed by the government for the talks.
“However, we will discuss in our core committee meeting on Monday how the PTI can be of assistance to further the dialogue,” he added.
PTI information secretary Dr Shireen Mazari said the party hadn’t been contacted by the Taliban to ask its chairman to become a member of its committee for peace talks with the government.

Well, he should be happy. He has said that he would discuss it with party, but isn't IK an MNA, hence a parliamentarian that is a federal body unlike KPK govt.

Taliban have given the rejoinder that they didn't ask for this which is missing from most of the media. Strange country Pakistan is where a guy is wing bashed for advocating peace talks (regardless of whether we agree or disagree with him) but no one discusses those powers who haven been instrumental in the creation of these groups in the first place. The media has been too harsh and illogical with him. Is IK responsible for creation of these groups? Does he differentiate between them? Does the state need a go ahead from him for launching operations in FATA (considering that no one asked him before launching countless operations in the past)?

if the peace can be had through dialogues, the whole nation must be thankful to him for bringing about the peace. the situation is so dire that everyone should support IK and the negotiating team and be thankful.
just imagine, what if NO peace talk is to be held because anyone who volunteers to liaison between the government and the TTP is considered PRO Taliban is just ridiculous. peace talks must be carried out at ALL costs.

I believe the initial reports were that Taliban had asked for Imran Khan/Maulana Samiul Haq etc to be on the govts negotiating team (not the taliban team. That is a twist certain people added to make it spicier) In the end, it turned out to be a fake news anyway. But it was enough for 'saeen' party to get its kicks for a few minutes.

Our media has not got the courtesy for (at least) apologizing on their deliberate attempt of discrediting him. In any other country they can be taken to courts, but hey its Pakistan everything goes.

every major international and local channel has confirmed that TTP has proposed IK for a panel, which would represent TTP…taliban has confirmed it as well…what are you talking about ali? your abrupt and furious reaction in several posts shows how rattled you are by these news…until now you have always tried to keep a middle line but now sensing IK’s political demise, you have lost the balance…suddenly you are coming up with all kind of excuses and calling this nation/media a thankless nation who cannot value a hero like Ik…
anyway, on twitter PTI supporters have created a mess and a tofan batamiziee…they know very well that theier leader IK reputation has been tarnished for ever…he is a TTP sokesman!
IK was my hero as well…but not anymore…I always said that IK’s stand on taliban will destroy his politics and that he is on the wrong side of the history … and now janab Molana Imran Khan has been nominated by TTP to represent TTP… this is a biggest slap on IK face…the fact that taliban trust IK more than anyone else shows it all…

Congrats to all Pakistanis. The confusion has been cleared. We now know who are good Taliban and the bad Taliban.
The committee nominated by Pakistan Taliban league nawaz group, are GOOD Taliban. And the committee nominated by Tehreek a Taliban fazlullah group, are BAD Taliban.

Taliban have proven what all Pakistanis have been saying since long, and what blind PTI supporters have been denying. Every stance Imran takes is in the interest of Taliban, which means his stances are against the people of Pakistan.
Supporting Imran on the issue of terrorism is like supporting Taliban. This coward talks about negotiations while Taliban slaughtered innocent Shias, Sunnis, police officers, and politicians.
Taliban have confirmed that Imran is not just their apologist but in fact their ally.

I am rattled at the way our media operates. Some channels reported yesterday that the taleban have not said anything like that. I can clearly see who does not want an operation in NWA. I can also see clearly how the media differentiates when Imran khan asks for peace talks and when the govt actually pursues them. Anyways I don’t care people can keep bashing Imran khan, the people who have created them and confusing the people are others. Hey but we do need a scapegoat.

When Imran khan was talking in favour of peace talks the media was portraying him as the biggest obstacle in carrying out operations against them. When he put his support behind the army, the government decided to go for peace talks. Why is the media quiet now? Did the government ask his permission before carrying out operations in swat, buner, mohmand, orakzai, SWA, kurram, khyber etc? How many high profile criminals have been arrested so far? The government is just using him as a coverup for not carrying out operations in NWA.

I do not agree with PTIs policies on terrorism, but I do not find the media to be neutral as well. They have bashed a guy brutally for something he has no role in. For the past several months I'd gone into virtual hibernation due to PTIs policies, I am thankful to the media for pushing me back.

When the team of Pakistani negotiators was announced their qualification was mentioned as closed relationship and confidence with TTP. When TTP announced their team it must be same i.e.PRO- TTP men of confidence. Where the hell are are pro-Pakistan members in these negotiations? Are we going to sell off out 50,000 innocent dead for their so-called martyrs?
