Trying to stay healthy!!

Not sure if this should be merged or moved but Im posting it as a New Topic!!

But Ive been really dedicated to losing weight these last two monthes, and have had some great results.. and I dont want to give that up in Ramadan. So I have committed to not letting Ramadan eating get in the way of my weight loss.. I havent given my work out up either!!

To that affect I have committed to eating nothing fried (WHICH IS A NIGHTMARE - esp when Im frying all this stuff up for my hubby) and nothing really fattenning…so no patties though I love puff pastry..

So far it hasnt been that bad… Ive hadsmoothies..and fruit chaat( no sugar added) but I know Ill get bored… just looking for some healthy iftar food ideas…

Thanks in advance!!

Re: Trying to stay healthy!!

I believe you can have like chicken kebab...use lean ground chicken meat..or use turkey...spic eit up as u like...and make kebabs for iftari.....use olive oil if u have to...but they cook well with a drop of oil in a non-stick fry pan. You can also shape them and bake them.
Hmm, try various smoothie recipes. I am on a complete no sugar diet..but if you eat fruit....experiment with different melons, pineapple...strawberrie smoothies using non-fat yogurt or juices.

Re: Trying to stay healthy!!

Why are you even cooking fried food for your husband? Isn't he concerned with his health?

Re: Trying to stay healthy!!

^^That's a lot of weight in just one month. How did you lose it?

Re: Trying to stay healthy!!

Sidra!! If only he would listen!! I always tell him its not healthy for him..but does he listen... I mean he has been super supportive of my WW even switching to skim milk, whole grain everything! But I guess he just cant seem to give up the crisp samosas, spring rolls, and pakoray... I try to limit it to one fried thing at iftar a day....

Decent, thanks I think I might try to bake some pakoray!!!

Re: Trying to stay healthy!!

I am doing Weight Watchers as well :)

Re: Trying to stay healthy!!

  • Daily workout (10 min walk, 15 min running, 10 min walk) = around 3 miles
  • Rice - Once a week only
  • Roti - Half at night only
  • Healthy food (salad, fruits, grilled, steamed and baked food only

Main idea is to workout and cut on fat and carbs…Its not hard as i used to think it is.

Re: Trying to stay healthy!!

My friend/neighbor has lost 20lbs on weight watchers in the last 3 months and she looks great ! She has cut down all the crap and she walks about 2-3 miles about 4 times a week. Her weight is just disappearing. I see her daily and everyday she looks one pound lighter to me. I am so proud of her !!!

Also, if you guys are trying to eat more healthy and get a craving for ice cream…try DIBS. They are bite sized ice cream rolls in most supermarkets. Made by Dreyers. But don’t eat more than 3 or 4 !!! They are addictive.

Its all about will power guys and also alot of sacrifice, sweat and effort but good luck anyways !! :nuch:
