trying to conceive

Re: trying to conceive

I think its very common to have the "trigger shot" with clomid. But that probably depends on the hormone workup that your doc did...some people may not need it kwim? And the docs tend to leave it up to their patients as to whether they want to try with just the clomid or if they want to be more aggressive and go with IUI.

Re: trying to conceive

allah aap ki khahishain aur muradain puri karay ameen

Re: trying to conceive

hey u both ver facing fertility problem ..May allah help u to recover ameen

That sounds reasonable to me PP! I wish you the very best!

Something that I found useful was asking (too many) questions lol. The doc didnt like that much but heck its part of their job to answer questions.

If they tell you that you have poor cervical mucous, thats why IUI is recommended. It should be the consistency of egg whites. If its the consistency of peanut butter then the sperms cant swim thru it to get to their destination. And although IUI is a good solution, cough medicine can also work. The kind that thins the mucous, Guaifenesin is the one I used. Sometimes, it thins out the cervical mucous enough and sometimes not but its worth a try if you want to try for the most interference-free conception.

If they tell you to go the IVF route, find out exactly the reasons why. THen spend some time with Google. You may or may not find other solutions to the exact problems that the doc identified or tests that can uncover the real problems.

Some fertility docs are excellent with patients, telling them everything they need to know and helping them to figure out the best way for them. Other fertility docs just assume that the patient wants to get pg as fast as possible no matter what the cause and/or treatment possibities are.

I wish you the very best of success and look forward to the day that you post happy news here on GS!! :)

Re: trying to conceive

Re: trying to conceive

Re: trying to conceive

Insha Allah you will have a baby soon.Lots of dua to you!! Its quite a struggle, but Insha Allah it will bear fruit.

Re: trying to conceive

Best of luck PP!!

Not to worry about the progesterone or the shot of HCG...that shot is usually given at the doc's because its an IM (intra-muscular) one. But even if you are asked to do it yourself, you can do it! I've got huge issues with needles myself, actually I have something of a phobia about them (faint even for flu shots lol) but I was able to do the injectible fertility meds somehow.

And the progesterone is really easy. I used Crinone, its expensive but the best of the progesterone supplement options and its really very easy to use...easier than using a tampon. It comes in very convenient applicators and very clear instructions.

So no worries, just go with the flow and INshallah you will be posting happy news before you know it! :)

I did my first round with only clomid.

my 2nd and 3rd was with the injection

Re: trying to conceive

Praying for you pumpkin pie ...

Re: trying to conceive

make your hubby do it - it's easier when someone else does it.

The first couple of months I did the clomid without anything else.
Just trying to time everything right. That didnt work.
So this time around we are trying the IUI with clomid.

I'm in the same boat as you honey. We'll pray for each other and just relax.
Nothing will work if we keep being all anxious about it.

Jahil question Alert

Difference between IUI and IVF? Which has a higher rate of success?

awwwww PP, hang in there, take a deep breath and think of "Nike" commercials...Just DO it!!! lol!! I am the last person on the planet that anyone would think I could inject myself...but I DID it! It really wasnt so bad and I was SOOO very proud of myself when it was done. I am SUCH a needle-phobic that my whole family thought I'd never get thru the whole thing so they kept encouraging adoption...and looooook at me now lol!!

You GO girl!!! and heck, even if you faint after it all, you still DID it!! :) Very best of luck, good wishes and fervent prayers are with you. And we all look forward to hearing good news from you some time soon.

Re: trying to conceive

ps...success rates between IUI and IVF cant really be compared. These are really very different procedures aimed at very different fertility problems yeah? So its kinda like comparing apples and oranges.

Re: trying to conceive

My friend was trying for a baby for almost 9 years. She was addicted to coffee, tea, pepsi, sweets and most of all chocolate! She asked my Gran to pray for her one day and my Gran asked her what her diet was. Gran told her to give coffee etc up esp' chocolate! After a year my friend fell pregnant! She has a baby and is pregs again! Since then she hasn't touched coffee or chocs again.

Thought I'd share that...:)

Re: trying to conceive

^PP there's nothing you can do to make them grow. Clomid 50mg is the lowest dosage and does not always trigger an ovulation. The doctor might decide to try 100 mg for your next cycle or maybe try another cycle on 50mg?!
Be patient and stay positive :) It always takes time to see which dosage is the right one for you!

Re: trying to conceive

aww PP I know how devastating it can be!! Hang in there! It does take time to get things right and if Clomid doesnt do the trick there are other meds. It may also just be that your hormones need to get a bit more revved and this clomid cycle may have "revved the engine" so to speak. Hang tough!!

Re: trying to conceive

^ May Allah swt give you guys a happy and healthy baby soon, Inshallah. :)

Re: trying to conceive

Its easy to say...but really...try not to worry. Your ovaries ARE working...just not hard enough yeah? So chalk this one up to "practice"...and INshallah next month will go better. I went thru this emotional roller coaster for 6 mos then conceived then miscarried at 11 weeks then conceived again...and lookit me now - not one but 3 little angels!

Its worth the wait, the pain, the agony and the heartbreak of waiting for them to arrive. And I cant wait for the day that you post the news of your blessing!!! Hang tough!

pumpkin pie  u r in my prayers
