Trying to conceive - Methods

Salam all,

Just wanted to know what all methods did you guys try and what worked for those of you trying to have kids. I have heard of the Basal Body temp method, ppl trying ovulation predictor kits, also books like taking charge of your fertility. There is sooo much out there I’m going out of my mind. So pls share what worked for you all… thanks …

Re: Trying to conceive - Methods

what i've heard is... forget all that and just do it - its the best method out there! ;)

Thats the best advice Sadi! No need to worry about getting technical. If no results after a year then you'd start trying these things.

;) No results that is why asking .... Mo3...

Re: Trying to conceive - Methods

awww so sorry sadi!

ok so if your age is 30 or under, they say to try for one year. Over 30, try for 6 months. If no results, its best see your gyn to have levels tested during your cycle. The do bloodwork on day 2, mid cycle and end of cycle if I remember correctly. They look for levels of progesterone, fsh (follicle stimulating hormone), LH (lutenizing hormone) and I think one or two others. This can give a good indication of whether its trouble with hormone levels. If you google these hormones, you can find out what levels are good so that you can make sure of your doc. Next step depends on those results. If further testing is indicated, its best to visit a fertility specialist (Reproductive endocrinologist). They will check that the uterine lining is thick enough for implantation to take place, check to see if there is sufficient cervical mucous to allow sperms to swim to their destination, test to see whether there are any uterine fibroids and test to see if there may be blockage in the fallopian tubes.

Of course, you can try the ovulation predictor kit to see whether you have an indication of ovulation. But if you have concerns, its best to have some tests done by your doc because even if you have the right hormone levels, it doesnt mean you have an egg, know what I mean? Having the tests done gives you a much clearer idea of whats going on.

What worked for me? Injectible fertility meds followed by progesterone supplements and baby aspirin. My situation was that I had used DepoProvera, the 3-month birth control shot. It shut down my ovaries and they couldnt start back up. Everyone is different though and what works for one may not work for another.

Best of luck to you!!

Re: Trying to conceive - Methods

Get a ovulation predictor kit as mamaof3 already mentioned to be sure to make most of ure fertile days.

Please dont get up after intercourse for atleast 15 mins, especially try not to urinate for 30 mins atleast. A pillow might be useful to be put under to ensure that the sperms stay inside. Keep lying on ure back acha :stuck_out_tongue:

Start having folic acid and eat healthy stuff and make sure that ure husband eats well too and dont let him wear tight clothes, especially tight pants. Avoid too much coffeine. Avoid worrying too much, this is a baby making killer for the body!

All the best. Make lots of dua for a healthy and normal baby.Remedies From the Holy Qur’An

Re: Trying to conceive - Methods

I used the ovulation predictor kits and did not like them at all. They just stressed me out since i got positives twice in a cycle and wasnt sure what to believe. It probably was just the brand i used (Answer) but i couldnt be bothered to use another brand.

I also charted my basal body temp for about 6 months after reading taking charge of your fertility, although in the end that didnt really help me since my cycles were all whacko. But i really liked the fact that you could tell if you were ovulating or not based on the charting.

Best advice!

Sadi, if u have been trying for at least a year, get yourself to a Dr asap, don't delay.
