I am in a rut with my lipsticks, I always end up buying similar shades of lipsticks, some are different completely but more often I lean towards the same shades and this is becoming a costly silly mistake.
How do you avoid doing this?

Re: Trying new lip colours
Challenge yourself to go out your comfort zone! Never too good to be too comfortable..
I don't know where you live.. If a Sephora or something similar is accessible, pop in, slap on a lip shade, walk around the mall for a few hours. See how you like it. Lean towards something outside the box. If you don't like it by the end of the day you don't have to commit to purchasing. At least you tried something new and forced yourself to wear it. =)
Re: Trying new lip colours
I buy lipstick kits and make myself wear all the colours.
Re: Trying new lip colours
Yeah I buy up kits during the holidays and use it as a way to try on new stuff. At any rate, you get things for great prices, and you get to try a variety of colors.
For 30-40 dollars, you can get a kit with so many colors, and try on different colors, and textures. I tried tarte this way and was impressed with their color line (although it smudges so easily).
Re: Trying new lip colours
I am in the UK, unfortunately we don't have Sephora here, we so need it here though!
I like the kit idea, never thought to do that but yes such a great way to grab some new colours and experiment. Now I ned to find som kits!
Re: Trying new lip colours
Idk about the UK but here in the US it's very easy to buy and return stuff.... 99% of places have easy return policies, even for makeup that was tried on and used.
