^ how about an example? since we both claim to be muslim, lets see one from islam? from the scripture or the the Prophet (saw)
Islam is religion which forbids lying, deception and cheating and considers them to be sins.
True, but the kind of lying or situations where a lie is not permitted is far different from the one which is permitted.
Lying to hurt someone, to get any worldly michievous gain, to add something in religion etc. are not permitted. If you joke and try to hurt someone by making fun intentionally then it is not good.
But there are situations where 'lying' is allowed.
Come on bhai sahab or Chacha sahab! At least use some common sense.
Do I neeed to explain or give you references you asked for?
The way you wrote the statement one thinks you had done some investigation in to this matter before saying above. I am not sure if you did. :)
OK;
I refuted your statement: Just for the record it is quoted again.
"every religion makes a blanket statement against lying without mentioning any circumstances in which it is allowed.
Here are few references for you to ponder.
Don't you think Ibrahim AS lied when he blamed the 'big one' instead of him who broke the smaller idols?
Bukhari Volumn 004, Book 055, Hadith Number 578.
Narated By Abu Huraira : Abraham did not tell a lie except on three occasion. Twice for the Sake of Allah when he said, "I am sick," and he said, "(I have not done this but) the big idol has done it." The (third was) that while Abraham and Sarah (his wife) were going (on a journey) they passed by (the territory of) a tyrant. Someone said to the tyrant, "This man (i.e. Abraham) is accompanied by a very charming lady." So, he sent for Abraham and asked him about Sarah saying, "Who is this lady?" Abraham said, "She is my sister." Abraham went to Sarah and said, "O Sarah! There are no believers on the surface of the earth except you and I. This man asked me about you and I have told him that you are my sister, so don't contradict my statement." The tyrant then called Sarah and when she went to him, he tried to take hold of her with his hand, but (his hand got stiff and) he was confounded. He asked Sarah. "Pray to Allah for me, and I shall not harm you." So Sarah asked Allah to cure him and he got cured. He tried to take hold of her for the second time, but (his hand got as stiff as or stiffer than before and) was more confounded. He again requested Sarah, "Pray to Allah for me, and I will not harm you." Sarah asked Allah again and he became alright. He then called one of his guards (who had brought her) and said, "You have not brought me a human being but have brought me a devil." The tyrant then gave Hajar as a girl-servant to Sarah. Sarah came back (to Abraham) while he was praying. Abraham, gesturing with his hand, asked, "What has happened?" She replied, "Allah has spoiled the evil plot of the infidel (or immoral person) and gave me Hajar for service." (Abu Huraira then addressed his listeners saying, "That (Hajar) was your mother, O Bani Ma-is-Sama (i.e. the Arabs, the descendants of Ishmael, Hajar's son)."

Chapter : Forbiddance of telling a lie and the cases in which telling of lie is permissible.
Humaid b. 'Abd al-Rahman b. 'Auf reported that his mother Umm Kulthum daughter of 'Uqba b. Abu Mu'ait, and she was one amongst the first emigrants who pledged allegiance to Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him), as saying that she heard Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: A liar is not one who tries to bring reconciliation amongst people and speaks good (in order to avert dispute), or he conveys good. Ibn Shihab said he did not hear that exemption was granted in anything what the people speak as lie but in three cases: in battle, for bringing reconciliation amongst persons and the narration of the words of the husband to his wife, and the narration of the words of a wife to her husband (in a twisted form in order to bring reconciliation between them).
