Mutahida Qaumi Movement formerly known as Muhajir Qaumi Movement is still Muhajir Qaumi Movement. One person here claims that MQM tilt towards any party will form the future government of Pakistan. Truth is its Quaid AH who changed its name a few years ago so that people don’t think that it is an ethnic party did not work. Because camouflaging does not change the original face of the party as this was just to fool people of Pakistan. More over its culture is same as before the change of name, people still consider this as ethnic party of Muhajirs only, not the national party.
When Mush issued NRO pardoning all the criminals including the leadership of this party, I wonder why the founder AH is still in London at crucial times of elections. Since his party is running elections in whole of Pakistan, I have yet to see a single rally in Punjab, NWFP, Baluchistan and even in rural Sindh. What’s going on? Have number of seats of MQM they would get, already decided? Or AH has realized that he can not win seats accept certain parts of Karachi and Hyderabad. If this is true, than this camouflage of party did not work and he should change its name back to Muhajir Qaumi Movement.
I think they have done their part, i.e. change the name to Mutahida. Now its upto non Muhajir people, to start joining it. Then you will see the face change.
No they did not. Unless attitude of this party does not change starting from stopping support to dictators, non-Muhajirs will never join this party. Party instead of representing educated middle class people, represents, bhuttakhors, killers, rapists, theifs, robbers and so on worst than typical feudal culture.
After the incident of 12 May 2007 MQM has lost a golden opportunity. It will be rather uphill task for MQM to convince the people from other provinces.

True, Musharraf has absolutely no support from anyone except the MQM supporters. Before Musharraf was in trouble in May, and before he asked the MQM to help him take care of the CJ rally by engaging in a murdering spree, even the MQM supporters were somewhat critical of him, calling him a punjabi wannabe, and crying about the baluchistan and nwfp operations. Now that his regime is in shambles, and Altaf Hussain has openly declared his support for Musharraf, they are supporting him, but lately they too like the Q lota league are avoiding his mention in their election rallies to ensure their votebank doesnt die out.

I dont care about the ANP, or Jamaat or whatever you are trying to bring up. My only point is this, dont support Altaf and then say youre not an MQM supporter.
And btw, Im not sure that altaf video was was pre-2002 or not, but just because Musharraf Musharraf gave the MQM a bone to chew on (letting them form a govt and draw money) doesnt mean Altaf becomes a 'saaf shifaaf' person. He said that about crap Pakistan, and all his followers who revere him so much, believe in that statement. He will always be a traitor.
I seriously don't give two hoots about Altaf but in the dirty politics of Pakistan, such parties do exist. And I tell you, let BB and/or Gunja come to power and they will launch another operation which will only result in giving fuel to MQM.
Government should provide free or discounted education etc but its role should be of an arbitrator rather than a party itself. Karachi has a lot of potential to grow if private enterprise is allowed to grow and quota system is ended in the city. Majority of the prime land in the city is still controlled by Army, navy, air force and other non-karachiite entities that are not answerable to karachi govt. I still remember the bill the karachi mayor had sent to DHA because karachi govt had to go clean their streets when DHA actually collects the taxes and doesn't share it with karachi govt.

Some months back, there was an assault by an MQM member in CDGK council on a woman member of the house. That guy was a balouch bloke from the western parts of the city - Salman Balouch!
What happened to the oh so bad army that is involved in business now?
