Re: Trust
Hmm, I would say it can be both.
One can feel a sense of privilege/honor that they are seen worthy of being trusted. Then you also have the right to either trust someone or not trust them.....you have the right to not reciprocate the trust that is shown toward you....you have the choice to betray trust...and that can come with consequences.
Re: Trust
B
Re: Trust
Neither.
Trust is a social contract.
We have a right to life.
Anyone misleading us and taking that right away from us is wrong.
Trusting someone that they won't take our life is based on a contract.
Hobbes social contract; if I can trust you to not violate my right to life, I will not violate your right to life. If both of us can trust each other, we can have the right to our life.
Similarly, if I can trust you to not tell my secret, not hurt me when I am down etc, I will do the same for you. But if you do not respect those needs (and in some instances, rights), you will not have my trust (and you will be deprived of your right to secrecy etc).
Obviously nothing can stand alone. Sometimes we're faced with trust vs. someone else's life security or something else. It depends on what matters more in that situation. Person A, whose life is in danger or the person who trusted you when they told you that they are planning on killing person A.
Re: Trust
trust is the right of every person but once u break it and u r forgiven, it becomes a privilege. Hence, the answer, imo, is b.
Neither.

OK. :)
Much of your dicussion is on comparing trust with right to live issue.
Between two individuals, trust could be other than life matter.
Can trust not be both?
A person's right to be trusted if the person has not done anything wrong.
A person's privilege when other person is giving his/her trust which can be taken away anytime.
Ever heard: "How dare you? I trusted you". Meaning this person was given the trust as a privilege but the person for some reason broke it.
Right: " Look we are in it together. You've got to trust me"
Here the person is 'demanding' the trust.
Re: Trust
Trust is such a heavy word.
Re: Trust
^ Not for those who don't have plans to break the trust. :)
