very nice book…every1 that loves islam should read it…she hits the head on the nail in this book…readers should do the same after reading it…:k:

I have.
She is dishonest biatch.
Only reason she got all the attention is we muslims are very impatient.
Most part of the book is about her child hood uncomfortable experience at the local mosque
, witch eventually became the reason she got mad at the faith islam.
Her child=hood experience were because of her father/ illiterate imam masjid.

She in fact admire pakistan due to its similarities to israel .
She loves israel(her immediate bosses are jew(big surprise)).

Manji writes "when abdul-asalam got nobel prize there were demonstration in pakistan against him"

Well if any thing paki were proud of Dr. abdul salam. Irshad manji took those lines out urdu translation of her book.

Recommendation:: DO NOT READ IT

I agree... I have not read the book but I heard she *****es a lot about islam... she is a lesbian and used to host a sex show on TV....and she tries her best to convince everyone that Gays and Lesbians r allowed in Islam...again...that is debatable but I am sure no where does it clearly say that it's allowed!

PS. Homo-sex is forbidden in Islam, no amount of ijtihad is going to change that, she doesn't even understand the basics of Islam or ijtihad.

meh...

Another writer making money by criticizing Islam.

I'm all for Ijtehad and all, but some of her views are ridiculous!

Also the book is a love-in for Israeli's.

this book is obviously an attempt of an attack on faith. the writer's self propaganda, her all too obvious ulterior motives to seek a false sense of popularity by picking on the religion she questions, as the only topic of causing a confused logic about the faith, & having done so at a time in the political history of the world, when she could cause enough negative press about the faith, together with doing so in a non Muslim part of the world under the guise of free speech right - the writer's fame has less to do with what she set out to write about.
& more to do with the illogic of the content of the published book.

advice: trash the book. you can instead read Karen Armstrong's book - The Spiral Staircase.

Irshad Manji and her book is a waste of space and resources. I love Islam, it is my faith and identity, so I take it personally.

manjee had a screwed up life due to her family, she could have just written trouble with bangladesh and extrapolated her funked up life and her real nutter family to the country as well, but then it would not have sold.

read it at a library, dinn wanna spend money on it, book is lame, half the population of GS religion forum can set her straight.

the closest comparison I could find was.

her arguments are kinda liek ali g’s here, watch it at 2"30 sec -to 3:20

that is quite inaccurate comparison.

Manji's book highlight very vital points and very valid criticism.
but she she loses her credability once she starts defending atrocities on muslims around the world with idiotic reasoning.

For instance lets suppose isreal never had appeared on the map of the world. What would palestine be like now ? Most probably it would have been just another third world country, backward, illiterate, dependant on foreign aid and ruled by corrupt undemocratic govt.
