Trouble Sleeping!!!

salam everyone
aaagghh!!..ive been having the worst time trying to go to sleep. i need help!!..ive been stressing lately..so i know thats one factor..but does anyone know of some remedies that can fix this problem???

Several possible remedies

  1. Count sheep
  2. Make designs of the curtain in your head
  3. Stop trying. Get up and do something useful
  4. Tune to Prime TV/PTV
  5. Change your mattress. The lumpy old one is bad for the back too.
  6. Get rid of the stresses
  7. Eat dinner early. Wait one hour (watch reruns). Then exercise real hard till you sweat. Let the sweat dry. Take a warm bath. Jump into the bed with a really boring book.

Try these in any order you like. If no improvement, report back in one week. :)

I guess u've seen your share of stress :)

for me this always used to make me instantly sleepy in college:
start studying/doing homework

and i second what batameez said, and even better, put a spoon of honey in the warm milk

Meditate or as the strange creature above me said take a warm bath.. and try to have no thoughts except that ur tired and u wanna sleep..

I have to go with irem...crack open a textbook and u'll be out fast :D

Seriously tho..I would say a bath with aromatherapy ...and then a glass of milk...def. will help...and since u have a lot of stress try treating urself...buy one of those back massagers and enjoy!

but really SunsetLVr the secret is to clear ure mind of all thought, close ure eyes maybe keep ure arm over ure face so they stayed close! :D

i couldnt sleep at all a while ago but this works everytime, mostly u be rerunning thoughts of the day in ure head and u get so cought up in them u forgot what u went to bed for

There are many reasons why you suffer from lack of sleep. One of those reasons could be the stressful times you are going through.

Other factors leading to sleeplessness are of dietary and bio-chemical nature. I don't know how old you are what's your body chemistry like. That's something you should explore on your own. If they reasons for your sleeplessness are diet related, they are easy to rectify.

  1. Stop taking all caffeinated drinks. This means no coffee, no tea and no sodas until you recover your comfortable sleep cycle.

  2. Watch your sugar and carbohydrate intake and cut down on it. Perhaps due to stress, you are indulging in more sugars and carbs than usual.

  3. If you take vitamins and other supplements, don't take them after 6PM given you are going to bed around 11 pm.

  4. Don't workout late in the evening it will affect your sleep cycle. You want to workout, do it early in the morning which is scientifically proven to improve sleep.

  5. Boring books and text books will further exacerbate the stresses of your life and bore you out of your wits. Chat with some high spirited friends, read a good book on travel, leisure or adventure (heck romance if you fancy that).

  6. Go run a couple of miles, it never fails!
