trouble conceiving....

how long did u try before you started to worry or go to a doctor to get checked out?

Re: trouble conceiving....

Hmmm couple of friends of mine waited for a year or so then they went to the doctor. But for all of them it happened within 2 years of marriage.

Baby will come when it is meant to be & destined by Allah :)

Re: trouble conceiving....

This is what they recommend, under 35, get checked by a doctor after trying for one year, over 35 check with teh doctor after 6 months. I conceived each time after 3-4 months of trying.

After 6 to 12 mnths you should see a doc.My son was born after 2 years of trying but I went for check up after one year. And at that time I came to know that I have thyroid problem.

Re: trouble conceiving....

Yes, above are the general guidelines -6 mos for over 35 and 1 year for under 35. But if there are other issues going on (irregular or particularly painful cycles, cycle too long and heavy, cycle too short and sparse, miscarriage history etc) then best to seek out a reproductive endocrinologist sooner.

I went through bloodtests etc after 1 year of trying.

Re: trouble conceiving....

We tried for a year - even though I knew I wasn't ovulating. I don't know why I waited a whole year.

If you know you're not ovulating or there is a known issue I would highly suggest seeing a doctor sooner then the rec time.

i didn't have trouble conceiving but i was told this dua. i would recite it continously.

"Rabbi hab li min ladunka dhurriyyatan tayyibah innaka samiud dua'

(My Lord! Grant me from You upright offspring, for You hear all prayers)" (Al `Imran 38)

Exactly what we did. I was afraid treatment was interfering with Allah swt's plan, but I know now that is not true.

Me too....I kept being told that it will happen when the time was right or when it was meant to be.

Re: trouble conceiving....

ack...thats so sad. Prayers never hurt for sure. But unless you're due for a miraculous intervention, a visit to a reproductive endocrinologist will very likely help you meet your goal far more successfully than just by relying on prayer.

Re: trouble conceiving…

Ramsha, I was going to ask you about the progress, but I just saw your other thread.

Best of luck!

Thanks 10 days to go… I’ve spent most of the day today analyzing every cramp, wondering if its a sign of pregnancy, pre-period, or a side effect of the medication.

Re: trouble conceiving....

Ramsha, did you use Clomid?

Re: trouble conceiving....

^ At first yes, but it didn't do anything for me, we were going to move onto injections but at the last minute a friend suggested femara as it had worked for her. I asked my doctor and he agreed.

Femara is fairly new when it comes to fertility drugs, its historically used to treat breast cancer but someone figured out that it also helps women ovulated.

I never had any luck with clomid and ovulated with the first try with femara (at the lowest dose)....It also has less side effects then clomid and the changes of miscarriage in early pregnancy goes down as well.

I have 6 days to go !!!!

Re: trouble conceiving…

All the best ramsha… may Allah make this try fruitful for you…aameen.
