**Andrew Strauss is keen for England to transfer the confidence gained by winning the ICC World Twenty20 into the Test arena at Lord’s on Thursday.**England take on Bangladesh in a match expected to provide easy pickings ahead of the later series with Pakistan.
Strauss, returning as England captain, said: "We have to be slightly careful not to get above our station and just expect things to happen.
“But success brings success and we want to take that to the next level.”
Strauss has spent four months out of the limelight, resting for the winter tour of Bangladesh while Alastair Cook deputised as captain, leading England to a 2-0 series whitewash
Strauss remained on the sidelines as Paul Collingwood took charge for the World Twenty20 success in the Caribbean.
In the meantime, the left-handed opener has had a scratchy time in Division Two of the County Championship, grinding out 415 runs in 13 innings for Middlesex with a best score of 92 and an average of 31.92.
The 33-year-old has a terrific record in Lord’s Test matches, however, with four centuries and a batting average of 62.21 at his home ground.
Two players without a Test cap between them are named in a 12-man squad, with Middlesex batsman Eoin Morgan likely to edge out Yorkshire paceman Ajmal Shahzad for a debut.
James Anderson, who was under an injury cloud when also rested for the Bangladesh tour, felt he had been “put back a little” in his progress when spending the World Twenty20 as an unused substitute.
But he returns to the scene of his devastating burst against Australia in the second Ashes Test last summer, when figures of 4-55 in the first innings set England up for a crucial victory.
Bangladesh have endured a troubled build-up, with captain Shakib Al Hasan having only just recovered from an untimely bout of chicken pox and leading batsman Tamim Iqbal playing despite a wrist injury that may require surgery before next year’s World Cup.
With neither man able to play a full part in the pre-Test warm-ups Bangladesh drew with Surrey before losing to Essex and the Lions.
