211 km/hour ki speed se winds and storm and rain .........:(..could be very destructive
we cant mange heavy rains then how come we will able to manage cyclone..when ever rained in karachi whole life gets upset for 3,4 days....we dont have good severage system that rain water cleans soon...doesnt ve good electricity system .wires kafi toot k gir jati hain :(.many people in past died from electric shocks ...
government has ordered all billboards to be taken off
people in karachi who lives near sea side are much worried abou it...

pray for karachi, badin, thatha and other coastal areas...that cyclone change its direction or if hits then doesnt distroy much...catogary will calm down to 2 or 1..

Good luck Karachi...

Re: Tropical Cyclone to hit Sindh Coast

Nothing will happen** Inshaallah.**
Also there is an history of not hitting the Pakistani coast .
However heavy rains may be there.

Re: Tropical Cyclone to hit Sindh Coast

^ Hopefully it will die before hitting the coast, but last time such storm was building up and government warned and Shahid Masood denied that no storm is going to hit.

Re: Tropical Cyclone to hit Sindh Coast

Dude. I live in Miami and we are used to these things. No one is shuttering up windows because they don't know how to.

They don't typically decrease in strength that much. It could go up to level 5 then level 4.

Either way the fact that the government is doing no mandatory facilitated evacuations is tantamount to sheer inhumanitarianism and murder of it's own citizens. Chalo let a few thousand die, it could be good for all of us. Right? So there is more for the rich to eat. Gits, the lot of them.

Abhay yaar. I am so scared for my family.

Re: Tropical Cyclone to hit Sindh Coast

They just said its already a Cat 4, and by the time it will hit Sindh - it will be a Cat 5 cyclone!

Guys remember Katrina? That was of Cat -5, and had destroyed 7 states, and billions of loss in THE USA!!!

We need to pray, although its not gonna hit directly yo Pakistan, but can damage badly,

May ALLAH SWT keep in HIS amaan the people, the land, the property of all Muslims aamin summa aamin!

Kuch Naik logon ki duain aur buzurgon kay qayaam ki wajah say shayad Rab nay baksh dia ho ham gunah garon ko!

before starting crying that it's cat 4/5 .. its freaking 900 km away and the direction is not even Karachi.

watch some movie and go sleep

Where did I said its direction is hitting Karachi?

Its direct impact will be Gujrat (india) but there will be heavy cyclonic condition and thunder rain in Karachi and Sindh coastal area!

Pakistan’s living condition can show the same picture as of Katrina in USA at even Cat 1, 2 cyclone, forget about Cat4 or 5!

Re: Tropical Cyclone to hit Sindh Coast

there is so much hype and disinformation around some say it would die down and some say it would get severe.
just heard navy commander saying chances of it increasing are minimal after hitting omani coast line.

so expect heavy rains and loadshedding, last year it was minimal but we didnt had light for 4 days.

Re: Tropical Cyclone to hit Sindh Coast

It already started to show up in Oman!

Heavy rains hit Oman as cyclone Phet approaches
(AFP) – 2 hours ago
MUSCAT — Heavy rains hit Oman’s east coast on Thursday as cyclone Phet approached the sultanate pushing up from the Arabian Sea and authorities raised the alert level to orange.
The cyclone, rated at a factor of 3.5 on a scale of five, was moving northwestwardly at a speed of eight kilometres (five miles) an hour. Winds were blowing at a 180 kilometres (112 miles) an hour.
Hotels along the east coast of the sultanate have been evacuated, the ministry of tourism said, and the residents of Masirah island were airlifted to safer areas.
The eye of Phet was still around 150 kilometres (93 miles) away from Masirah.
The capital Muscat further north could be affected by Saturday, authorities said.
But Muscat airport was still open with no intention to suspend flights, Transport Minister Salem al-Nuaimi said.
Phet was expected to veer towards the Indian and Pakistani coasts, sparing Oman a devastating impact similar to that of cyclone Gonu. It tore through Oman in 2007, killing at least 49 people and causing damage worth 3.9 billion dollars

Re: Tropical Cyclone to hit Sindh Coast

Threatening clouds over Muscat.

During 70’s, the cyclone in the Norhtern Indian Ocean were only 2-3.
During 80’s there were 4 or 5.
During 90’s there were still 4 or 5.

But since 1999, they appear to hit India, Pakistan and Oman almost every year.

The worst was for Pakistan and Oman was in 2007.
