"troll" calling rule

is the policy of not calling others troll limited to life1 only?
or other channels/forums also??

Re: "troll" calling rule

Calling someone troll (unless both parties are firneds and have such relationship) - is something I do not like. Its not a rigid polciy but I like to edit such comments. Off course the context matters too.

Re: "troll" calling rule

what is the difference between 'rigid' policies and 'not rigid' policies??

i see a lot of posts in parenting forum for instance, people calling anyone troll who has a different opinion........... yet nothing happens........

and what would be the 'context' where it will alright?? just so i am clear.

Re: "troll" calling rule

rigid policy means I am at least creating awareness in my team to remove such comments. People usually call a newbie troll, especially when newbie has started a ridiculous thread. Now I cant make it a policy cause sometimes that person is a troll and if it is a policy then we have to issue a warning to the member who called the person troll.

Context is if 2 parties are bugging each other or fighting and calling names then I have to find out who started it. It may or may not be the person who called the other person troll.

Re: "troll" calling rule

TLK, you do know Nomi is an accountant by training - he loves to count numbers!

I think counting other people's infraction points would give him a great opportunity to audit the numbers and make sure that 1 + 1, really does equal 2. Let's make Nomi Gupshup's auditor :D

Re: "troll" calling rule

We are teaching him how to count and add :D

Re: "troll" calling rule

I believe infraction issues when someone starts crossing his/her limits. As TLK said if two individual are not friend and no such relation than it is not ok to say Troll.

Re: "troll" calling rule

ooh nice......... i would reserve my comments about your training and stuff.....and what you love to do....

regardless....... it was a question on policy ................. how come you felt the need to make an entirely offtopic comment?? what does my training and your assumption of what i love to do has anything to do with policy??

Re: "troll" calling rule

ok ok calm down all.

Re: "troll" calling rule

Because I just finished drafting the policies :D And I made a specific reference in it about calling other members trolls. Here let me find the relevant section:

**Rule 3.2.1

**Members must treat other posters with respect and courtesy at all times, even if members disagree with the opinions of another member. Examples of behaviour that is considered impolite and discourteous and may warrant receiving infraction points, include but are not limited to calling others posters a "troll".

**Rule 3.2.1.1

**Rule 3.2.1 applies to all conduct, except for discourteous conduct directed towards NomiCA (and any other multis he has or may create in future). You may refer to NomiCA as a troll and no infraction points will be issued.

Since this post will live on, even after the ACTUAL Gupshup policies are posted, please note: This is NOT an excerpt of the policies, nor does it reflect the opinions of (all) Gupshup Administration.

Re: "troll" calling rule

now this black bit was quite a disclosure...........

btw....... are you part of administration?? just wondering.......

Re: "troll" calling rule

She is not officially, although we requested her to help us in compiling all the policy threads in one document. That does make her an unofficial member of the team.

Re: "troll" calling rule

Nomi, kabhi kabhi jaise tum auron pai hans layte ho, waise khud pe bhi kabhi hans liya karo. Life is too short and there are too many real injustices in the world out there, for us to take ourselves and others seriously ALL of the time.

But if I hurt your delicate feelings, I apologize.

Khush? Ab jaa kay toffee kha lo.

Re: "troll" calling rule

you forgot this smiley :)

Re: "troll" calling rule

I agree with Sehrysh. We should all laugh at ourselves so much that no one else would laugh at us, they should just laugh WITH us. I follow that policy on GS a lot. That is why alhamdulillah, I enjoy very good and quite respectful relationship on GS (at least that is what I think)

Re: "troll" calling rule

Rule 3.2.1 - Does it allow me to call stupid people stupid?

Re: “troll” calling rule

:frowning: Unfortunately, diwana trademarked that smiley, I’d have to pay licensing fees to use it and well, I don’t want to be the cause for him getting rich.

Astaghfar! That’s not just infraction worthy - that’s one of the deadly sins!

Excerpted from the Latest New Age Religion Testament:

“Thou shalt not call genuinely stupid people, stupid.”

Watch out for lightening when typing that - God just might smite you.

Dramatic enough :chai:

Re: "troll" calling rule

regardless of context??
