Trivia game

Anyone know the names of the players who have represented their country in the most number of consecutive games (i.e not being dropped or injury) ? Test and ODI’s?

I dunno the answer myself, but I’d guess:

Pak- Miandad or Imran (both)
Aus- Steve Waugh (both)
SA- Dave Richardson (Tests), Gary Kirsten (ODI)
Eng- Ian Botham (Tests), Alec Stewart (ODI)
Ind- Tendulkar/Azhar/Kapil Dev - tough call here (both)
SRL- Ranatunga (Tests), Jayasuriya (ODI)
NZ- Martin Crowe (Tests), Chris Harris (ODI)
WI- Hooper (Tests), Richardson (ODI),
Zim- Andy Flower (both)

Australia

Alan Border (Test) & Adam Gilchrist (ODI)

England

Alan Knott (test) & Ian Botham (ODI)

India

Sunil Gavaskar (test) & Sachin Tendulkar (ODI)

New Zealand
Reid (test) & Adam Parore (ODI)

Pakistan

Javed Miandad (test) & Moin Khan (ODI)

South Africa

Jacques Kallis (test) & Hansie Cronje (ODI)

Sri Lanka

Marvan Attapattu (test) & Mahela Jayawardne (ODI)

West Indies

Gary Sobers (test) & Richi Richirdson (ODI)

Zimbabwe

Alistar Campbell (test) & Andy Flower (ODI)

wow, poor response so far..

anyway, Umair are those guesses or statisitics?

good call on Hanise Cronje, completely forgot about him (hmm..I wonder why).

I wouldn't be too sure of Attapatu over Ranatunga though. He was around for a long time, a cricket team hardly left Sri Lanka without him.

I'm pretty sure about some of them, and once I saw in a New Zealand Pakistan match about most consecutive appearances with Reid on the top.
I wouldn't be surprised if Wicket keepers dominate that list, because they usually don't have replacements as other players do.

Umair, you probably have cricket.org's database memorized in your head buddy!!!

yeah, keepers are a safe bet in a statistic as this, except if you're from the West Indies. lol

They swtich keepers there as pak does their opening bats and india in their stance of whether to tour pak or not.

I don't know yaar, Jacobs has been with the Windies team with a quite a long time, Carlton Baugh was the replacement only for one match and for fitness reasons with Jacobs.
They had the great Dujon keep wickets throughtout the 80s and Jr Murray was their in mid 90s.

The sequence over the past years has more or less been Jr Murray, Courtney Browne, Murray again, Jacobs, back to Browne, Murray tried again but failed miserably, Browne, this time Murray's gone for good, and a long stint for Jacobs uptil the recent past.

Carlton Baugh and I think 1 more replacement keeper have filled in temporarily for injuries during that time period.
