SUPREME Court Bar Association President Aitzaz Ahsan has said that Pervez Musharraf should resign before the June-10 Long March.

He advised the parliament for impeachment of the president if he does not quit by then.

Talking informally with lawyers at Lahore High Court Bar Association on Wednesday, he said June 10 would be the last day of President Musharraf in the presidency, as he would not be given another chance to ditch the masses.

Aitzaz came to the bar to place his signature on the famous “Signature Register” being prepared by the lawyers for the Guinness Book of World Record.

He said Musharraf was illegally occupying the Army House denying COAS Ashfaq Pervez Kayani of his right. The lawyers lauded the role of army under the leadership of Kayani, he said.

The SCBA president said the legal community was left with no option but to swoop on Islamabad in the final show of the lawyers’ movement on June 10, and in the days onwards for the restoration of ‘deposed’ judges.

He said the nation has endured many difficulties due to the policies of Musharraf and constant victimisation of judges of superior courts since March 9, 2007.

Speaking about the recent tape scandal, Aitzaz said that an inquiry should be initiated immediately to disclose the real facts.

He appealed to the masses not to stay put in their houses and join the lawyers’ movement for restoration of Nov-2 judiciary and rule of law in the country.

Aitzaz said retired and ‘deposed’ judges will also participate in the long march and judicial buses will be on the roads leading to Islamabad.
