Hello there. I went to Skardu/Gilgit this June for two weeks. Here r some pics I took. Hope u like 'em. They’re in random order right now. I’ll caption them tomorrow.
Skardu:
I just love the sand…it was so much fun having these little white sandy beaches at…I dont know 10000 feet.
This place is called Manthuka. The fall is man made. It is actually water overflowing from a water tank at the top of the hill. After we had had some fun in the fall, our driver came out of the little turbine room and said “u ppl were taking shower in that..I went in there to switch it off..” and we were like “uhh..” This guy was soo funny. And guess his name? “***Mast ***Ali”
aaaaahhhhhhh Shaaaaaaannnnnnngrillllaaaaaaaaaaaa. Anyone of u getting married in summer..this is the place to go. Absolutely, positively the most romantic place I’ve ever seen. We had the time of our life up there. Scared the hell out of one of our friend with tales of ghosts rising up from the lake and what not…
hey it wasnt our fault he was such a wuss :o
Thats me with our host and guide. Our trip wouldnt have been half as much fun as it was without him.
Beautiful lake (forgot its name) but we didnt get to boat in it. Six member of our hosts family died some months back while boating in this very lake so he wasnt very confident about the boats. Beautiful place, nonetheless
Sadpara lake…BEAUTIFUL. Just BEAUTIFUL. The first place we visited and fell in love with it. Man..what an expeirence. Did I say it was BEAUTIFUL. oh how I miss it. ![]()
Gilgit:
This place is called Naltar. Its a skiing resort during winters and when we were there Pres. Musharraf wanted to visit this place. The administration wanted to build roads overnight for his visit so we we stuck there for over 2 hours on our way back.
I took this pic while we had stopped to buy some stuff. This is somewhere between Gilgit and Phandar/Langar. we went to Phandar for fishing.
ahhh Langar at 6 AM. What a sight…fresh air..nice oxygen…oxygen..oh nice bright sun out..did I say Sun..arrgghh..my skin..it burns…and I cant run…cough..gasp..aahhh.
Alright..this place might look beautiful but u’ll fry if u go unprepared. This is more than 12,000 feet above sea level (notice the lack of any tress due to small quantities of oxygen) so the sun burn is quite severe. Take ur sun screen. Also be prepared to huff and puff after taking 5 steps.
Langar again. My first fish catch EVER. I ended up catching 9 or 10 fish. What a day.
I forget this place’s name but my host told me Nawaz Sharif abslutely loved this spot. In fact when he came to honor Col. Sher Khan, he came to this place before going to Sher Khan’s and he kept the ppl waiting.
Some very beautiful places in Pakistan. ![]()
