Trip to a small town in Pakistan..

I am in Pakistan now and as i mentioned in one of thrads threads that I travel to distant areas of Punjab to oversee development and institutional development of towns.. I was in Qila Dedar Singh - a small town 16 km from Gujranwala.. and I took some snaps as i always do.. these are very average pictures of ordinary people and sights one find in small towns in Pakistan.. but i found them interesting.. i will be posting more for other areas later..

A tpical bazar scene in small town.. lot of encroachment.. shops loaded with everyday stuff.. these market are focus of attention for villages around the area of influence of town..

This was a very interesting vehicle.. and carrying a truckload of passengers.. This “Jat Tiara” moves around town and adjoining villages- is locally assembled taking parts from different vehicles..

I couldnt capture the whole face of this old man.. hair are so white and hes a picture of simplicity - very few of his generation are left who can relate history of small towns like these..

This young chap was so curious to see us that he followed us around..

These 2 were coming backfrom school.. look at treir wild hair and expressive eyes..

this is a common site.. alge growth in ponds with ducks .. so wild

Sadly, solid wastes from ever growing modern life swamping around fields in suburbs of small towns..

wow, some excellent photos Degas! Never really ventured into villages, so this is interesting. Sad to see all the waste and pollution.

I think you really baffled this little girl!

Excellent pics Degas Bhai. I´ve never been to any village in Pakistan myself, so I hope you will keep posting this kind of pics to give us all an insight view of the "other" Pakistan. The one we hardly ever get to see.

Nice picks. As shown in one of your pictures polythene bags or 'shoppers' a big problem in villages. I think they should be banned and move to paper only bags. Ruins the landscape.

These pics were taken from a small town.. village pics i will post as soon I will go to rural areas.. yes solid waste is causing great environmental hazards in third world..

:-)

Degas bhai if its not too prying of me, can I ask you which organisation do you work for? I myself have been looking into organisations like this but haven't yet been able to find the right one...you can reply by PM if you want...

Great pictures Degas :k:

Very neat pictures :) Esp. the one with the old man

Reminds me of the rundown areas of Karachi :)

Absolutely quaint pictures.I have been to some towns near Gujranwala, Im going to see if my parents or I have been to this particular one.

really nice snaps degasjee.

oh my goodness degas, you’re making me miss pakistan, and my dad who’s in pakistan now!!! :bummer: :teary1:

the pix are nice. They remind me of my village…anyone know of Chungi-amer-sidhu in lahore?

i miss pakistan! :bummer: now all i need is to close my eyes and stand next to a sanitation truck on a 90 degree day. :hehe:
