Tribal's Elders say "lets do this"

ISLAMABAD: Pledging complete support to the government in the event of hostilities with India
, tribal elders in Pakistan’s restive northwest
asked the establishment to end anti-militancy operations in the region and divert troops to the eastern frontier.
Addressing a news conference in Miranshah, the elders said the government should end military operations in the tribal areas due to the tensions between Pakistan and India in the wake of the terrorist attacks in Mumbai.

The government should withdraw troops from the tribal areas and instead deploy three million tribesmen on the Afghan border, they said. The troops thus freed could be sent to the eastern frontier.

They said they would mobilise tribesmen to fight in the event of hostilities with the neighbouring country.

The outlawed Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan too offered unconditional support to the Pakistani government if hostilities broke out with India.

If India attacked Pakistan, the local Taliban would set aside its differences with the government and defend the frontiers, militant leader Maulana Faqir Mohammad told reporters in Bajaur tribal region.

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, a key leader of the ruling coalition, said the government should not succumb to Indian pressure as the entire nation was with it.

Addressing a news conference in Lahore, he said the allegations made by India about a Pakistani link to the attacks in Mumbai were baseless.

“Call back the troops from the tribal areas, end the military operation and deploy the forces on the eastern border,” he said.

This would be huge help for the Pakistani military, against
a larger army being supported by Israel, U.S. and Russia.
And it tells India that with the military and the tribal lashkars
this would bend over the Indian army.

Re: Tribal's Elders say "lets do this"

This seems to make it even more clear that jihadis from Pakistan were involved in the Mumbai attacks. Their motive is obvious: get pressure of them and divert attention to the east.

I don't trust any of these taliban statements. They will likely attack pakistan army from the rear when it's facing india.

Re: Tribal's Elders say "lets do this"

Isn't usual and customary that all opposition make patriotic noises such as this?

Re: Tribal’s Elders say “lets do this”

Uh, of course they’re making such recommendations - they want the heat off the western border ASAP.

They probably were behind the Mumbai attacks. Their eagerness to move troups just supports the theory.

Re: Tribal's Elders say "lets do this"

i dono who was behind the mumbai attacks, but these "mujahids" have a history of helping pakistan against India :)
and its on record.

Dont worry about the other two above you. They have a history of their own too. And it's on the record. :)

When the time comes that requires Pakistanis to defend their nation, the tribals will be the first line of defence while the "others" look for bunkers in their posh houses.

Re: Tribal's Elders say "lets do this"

^^ so true

The problem isn't really tribals, but the jihadis exploiting the tribals. And tell that to the families of the policemen killed in these and other attacks. Thankfully we got 9 of the terrorists too.

Re: Tribal's Elders say "lets do this"

good to see news like this but insh'Allah nothing will happen!!

Re: Tribal's Elders say "lets do this"

It's pretty clear that the greatest beneficiary of the Mumbai attacks are going to be the jihadis in Pakistan.

Re: Tribal's Elders say "lets do this"

u guys need to come up with a different term. I believe in Jihad, but I have no clue what you mean by "jihadi".. seriously stop abusing it, ur only helping the "jihadis".

Pakistani army also has the history of back stabbing em :) infact the whole pakistani nation ( to which i belong) has the history of back stabbing em.

just do me a favour, ive done this argument so many times that it really makes me feel like banging my head in the wall. just buy a book on the history of taliban and alquaida (doesn matter its authentic or no, doesn matter its written by some american or pakistani guy, ur gona find the same stuff) and then read their history from 78 to 2008 and see if they are bad guys then even we'rnt saints :)

If burning schools, bombing CD shops, beheading innocent people, suicide bombing hotels doesn't make someone a bad guy, than I don't know what does in your twisted version of right and wrong. I don't need to read any book other than the Quran to figure out what is right or wrong. And Pakistan owes nothing to the Taliban. They owe their existence to us (sadly).

No one is saying anyone is a saint in this world, but if you can't see the evil that is right in front of you, than only Allah can help you.

Waheed, because they offer unity they are responsible for helping the Mumbai attacks? Thats some serious enlightened thinking bro.

These tribals have been down with Pakistan everytime have been needed. Against Afghanistan, against India. They have always been the natural force on Pakistans western border. And its not been long when these guys were fighting Pakistans war in Kashmir. Have you forgotten about that too? And this is after Pakistan invests not more then a few rupees a year in the tribal areas.

Just qoute me a single sentence from my post that says all this is justified.
all i said was if they are bad, even we arnt saints, they beheaded our ppl, we backstabbed em million of times :) so far its going even :)
perhaps u r too biased to understand.

Ps. these tribals are the ppl who got u half of the Kashmir :) not pakistan army

Re: Tribal's Elders say "lets do this"

Nice gesture from the tribals,

I see Mumbai attack as a check exercise by CIA/RAW/MOSAAD to see if Pakistani nation still stand united in any aggression from its arch rival.

The only way they can beat us, is to create a 1971 like scenario, i guess by this statement and looking into the history of these tribal leaders, Pakistan-Enemy-Elements have to wait little longer...

Re: Tribal's Elders say "lets do this"

It is a nice gesture from tribals. Now if gov't could take time off from scratching Ms. Zardari's butt and show some leadership.
You know India doesn't have the guts to try anything.

As far as the leadership goes, i have not heard from Imran Khan, Nawaz Sharif or much of Pee Pee Pee Pee leadership. From what i heard,

Syed Yousef Gillani has looked sincere with Pakistan and has kind of stood up to the Indians. But he looks over his head.

Zardari is the ultimate little female dog. He has repeatedly shown that he can't stand up to the Amrikans, he gets punked by the Indian media. I wouldn't be surprised if he is on CIA, Mossad, Raw payroll.

Hamid Gul i heard on Kaltak and he's the man. He's not willing to take any crap. I think he represents 90% of Pakistani opinion. More then our pathetic leadership.

Re: Tribal's Elders say "lets do this"

^^ Nawaz sharif, Imran khan, Aitzaz Ahsan, Qazi hussain ahmed and Altaf Hussain announced "unconditional" support to Zardari. this miracle happened yesterday.
