Treating sons differently from the daughters

How many out of wedlock pakistani women giving birth to child have you seen?

I once read an article in some Pakistani magazine about back-alley abortions. And it reported that it wasn't just prostitutes that go there.

A lot of women in Pakistan get pregnant out of wedlock. Its just hidden, that's all.

Its rare .. n obviously very very hush hush around here.. but doesnt mean it does not happen.. it happens n they do 'take care' of it... just that these things dont go public that often.. most of the time parents of the daughter hav certain PR that makes possible not to make the news public ... sad really.. but we cant close eyes to the bare fact just bcoz we live in islamic country ...

Guys, don't sugar coat things. If we overlook our faults, we will never be able to correct them and progress towards a better future ok?

These things happen - NOT rarely - A LOT. Affairs happen everywhere in the US, UK, Canada, Europe, Pakistan, India, Middle East, Australia - EVERYWHERE. YES, amongst MUSLIMS. Decent, ordinary muslims. No one nation's people are better than the other. Students, married people, unmarried people, cousins, friends - EVERYONE has affairs. And while not all of them may lead to the bedroom, QUITE a number DO. And if not the bedroom, still, they DO lead somewhere.

By turning a blind eye to our society's sins, we are not doing anyone any good. These things happen, so live with it. Get it out in the open, and hash out the problems. Don't hide them under the table and wait for evils to accumulate until they get to a boiling point of no return.

When all your prophets were Men, all your Khalifas were men, even God is referred to as a Man, even the truck drivers in Pakistan are men, how can you expect people not to treat women as second class?

PA, I thought that was a compliment. An insult will be to refer to Chaltahai as a Pakistani.

NYA bhaijaan, I believe religion has very little to do with it. If women's fair treatment was embedded in the notion of them being religiously revered as leaders or gods than the society of Hinduism or Hellenistic religions should have had a balance treatment for women, keeping in mind that they have a monopoly on female gods. But they are/were no better than the other societies around.

It’s more to do with human psychology.

The American mother (liberal & living in a secular society) when teaches her son to be careful in sex but her daughter to abstain from it, points that this behavior is in fact selfish choice maybe part of human nature and has a lot to do with economics & responsibility.

^ way to go AJ!
