Re: 'Treat mean, keep keen'
Never heard, of this
There I made a provision off my own :)
Re: 'Treat mean, keep keen'
Treat somebody mean........and eventually the person will leave you....unless he/she has low self-esteem and can't recognize the abuse or feels that perpetual abuse is justified.
But a person (male or female) with healthy self-esteem is not going to put up with someone's crap for long. They will dump your butt because they have the confidence to know how they want to be treated and their expectations from a relationships.
I don't think the idea is to be "mean". The idea is to have "confidence". And to some people, individuals who have "confidence" are seen as being "mean" because they're more firm in their beliefs and don't allow themselves to become someone's doormat and are comfortable with putting people in their place if that starts to happen.

Use.
Lose.
Don't abuse.
Catchy no? And I just came up with it in the past 30 seconds.
More like high school stupidity. Doesn’t work in real life situations. Not even worth trying.
Re: 'Treat mean, keep keen'
No it does. Be good with someone, you will be taken for granted, Treat mean and they will come after you. It may not a be long term relationship thing but it works.

I've seen examples of this in TV shows as well. Being toooooo good to someone can also mean that you're bending over backwards to do anything for them. You may not even realize that you're acting like a pushover or a doormat......and these two qualities (which are like trying tooooo hard to please someone) are associated with low self-eteem/desperation/neediness. Which turns people off. Showing confidence is the opposite of these qualities....it's a self-assuredness that may come across as "mean" but it isn't.....and attracts people.
Re: ‘Treat mean, keep keen’
Confidence sure does. To attract many people you do not need to have qualities, a confident demonstration you have suffices.
