I used to go to gym regularly and used to do 30-45 min treadmill and 30-45 min elliptical trainer. Then strength training etc etc. Losing weight was easy!
Then I got married, had a baby via c-sec. It’s been over a year now and I am at my heaviest!!
I bought a treadmill! Its a good one with 2.5 hp motor n all that but I just dont enjoy it like I used to at the gym.
I think I have wasted my money.
On the other hand I am doing a workout dvd which I am enjoying.
Is there anyone out there who uses treadmill at home and gets results out of it? How do u motivate urself? I even have a tv infront of my treadmill but I still lose motivation after 10-15 min!
I have two kids myself only 15 months apart (c-section as well) It was hard for me to get back to my cardio workout routine too, but the motivation comes when you are focused on the ‘end result’ - whichever that might be, fitting into a fancy dress or just feeling good about your looks in general. I so wanted to give up at the beginning too but I kept at it and now alhamdulilah I can do an hour without feeling like I am gonna drop on my face
Just keep at it and don’t give up…you have the treadmill use it, if you think of it as a burden that’s exactly what it will become, start off with 15-20 mins a day and work your way up as your body builds tolerance for ‘it’ TV has never helped me either I just drift off watching it instead of concentrating on my workout. music is the only thing that works for me - get an ipod and just start again today. Good luck.
^^ Thanku so much for the encouragment. :) M gonna try sticking to it. What results have u achieved with ur treadmill workout? And what speed do u maintain?
Duchess you are very welcome, I didn't give up and wouldn't want anyone else to either, stay positive and inshAllah you will see results
I have been at it for almost 1.5 years (my little one is now 2.5 years mash'Allah) each night after putting the kids to sleep in the evening this is my routine, basically at the beginning I just started walking on a consistent speed, I believe I started at 2 and then would finish at 3.5 or so.....as the minutes increased so did the speed but remember do it gradually, I could only do about maximum 30 mins since I had little one's to take care of during the day and was doing much more running around the house after them so I didn't want to push myself too hard because it's already hard enough haha, but do keep in mind if you start off with a faster speed you will get tired fast hence you lose the interest....I shed all of my baby weight within 9-10 months - this was just walking/sprinting each week night - I take the weekends off since we are always out and about.
Now even after building somewhat tolerance for my workout, I start at 2.5 but can go up 4 on an incline within few minutes - which I keep for at least for 45 minutes then go back to a slower speed (at 3) for additional 15 mins, So far this has been helping me so haven't tried to change much about my routine, but I would eventually like to do sprint drill type of workout in future.
p.s: Remember to stretch before and after your workout - don't just jump on any machine without stretching your muscles first....I really hope this helps you :)
Dont think u need to do it all at once, do it, then when u get bored come of it and come back to it later on in the day, do this more than 2 or even 3 times. That way ur not confining urself to a little amount of time and its spread throughout the day.
This is what happens, when I go to the gym I know I have x amount of time so I will use it as much as I can and put a bit more effort in, if however that piece of equipment is at home its much more harder to stay focused but u have the benefit of using it whenever u want!
Instead of spending a long time on it I go for 10-15 minute bursts - do 2 km's (or however much you can manage in 10-15 minutes) - take a 10 minute break - and then do another 10-15 minutes.
Guys how do you manage working out for so long I am asthmatic and I so much want to loose weight but exercising after just 5 minutes brings me on my knees. It is making me so depressed now. I really don’t know what to do
Yeah I have tried doing that a lot. I guess I am still not getting the hang of breathing in and breathing out properly. There isn't much help available on the internet either! :(
