I have a problem. I am really worried about travelling with a newborn baby.
My cousing is going to marry in August in Pakistan.
I will Insha’Allah expect my baby in the first week of July. I really dont want to miss my cousins wedding.
So do you know if I can travell with a few weeks old baby to Pakistan?
Does anyone have experience with this?
Re: Travelling with a newborn baby...pleases advice me
I know loads of people who travel with new borns. My colleague just came back from australia, and alhumdulillah his baby was fine. I think as long as you're well equipt for your trip and get some good advice from your doctor you should be fine, you won't be the first so don't worry...
Re: Travelling with a newborn baby...pleases advice me
We just came back from our Pakistan trip in which my wife spent around 5 months in Karachi with a 8 years old baby doll and 4.5 years old prince. Trip went well with the exception of cough and cold occasionally.
Here is todo list
Visit the pediatrician 1 month before leaving and consult with him if baby needs to get any shots before leaving
Visit your doctor and consult with him/her any shots that you and your spouse needs to get (specially if mom is nursing the baby)
STRICTLY remain on mineral water in Pakistan (I suggest Nestle)
Take few over the shelves infant medicines with you (like Tylenol etc). Make sure you check about the dosage with pediatrician
Don’t forget to take the baby shots records with you in case you need that in Pakistan

Some doctors recommend that babies should not be exposed to pressurized air-cabins up to 3 months. However, the new-borns are the easiest to fly with. It is when they grow and want to explore the world around them, then it becomes difficult to contain them in air-cabins.
Re: Travelling with a newborn baby...pleases advice me
i travelled with my 3 week old but only 1.5 hours to my parents. Since then my 7 month old has had 8 flights, 4 international....pakistan is a long flight and your baby would still be under 6 weeks right? summer time, high risk to get sick.
I checked with my pediatrication about traveling and she said it's fine her bigger concern was the baby getting sick from too many people touching her or sneezing on her etc...because that young gettling a little sick is a big deal...not the flying but the people in the plane and all the people at my parents home so i was under strict instructions for everyone to wash their hands before they touched her.
and to be honest at 6 weeks i was in no place to travel so long...she was eating ever 2-3 hours..i was exhausted. maybe 2-3 months..but not under 8 weeks imo

Please advice me......

You'll be travelling out of Amsterdam I suppose. Make sure you take a non-stop flight rather than changing planes somewhere. Makes your life so much easier.

Flying is fine for babies, just make sure she is sucking on something during take-off and landings (descents too), so u can either feed her or give her a pacifier. They also sell plastic ear-plugs for kids which you should be able to get at ur local pharmacy. And as someone said babies are the easiest to travel with. Make sure you ask for bulk-head seats where they can put in a bassinet for the baby.
Re: Travelling with a newborn baby...pleases advice me
you already got good advice.i'll just add few things.take ur stroller at all costs.flights that hav several stops, in some countries they take away the stroller n make u send it with chked in luggage .in such case insist on arranging a substitute when the plane lands.its better to hav a flight with least stop, one is good,non-stop is too long.ask ur agent to book u a seat with baby bassinet.sometimes in peak season u don't get it so talk to ur agent abt it or go 3 hrs b4 flight time so u get borading passes early n can make a request at the airlines counter for bassinet seats.keep an extra blanket.its really cold in planes n their blankets r mostly not enuf.
if u plan to keep ur baby on breast milk, chances of getting sick r low but july-august r horrible summer months.n then attending wedding i hope things work well with u.i went with my one yr old in summer n i would never take an infant in summer to pak ever.

also keep pedialite with u incase ur lil one gets stomach flu.which is very common with kids travelling to pak.talk to ur doc abt it in advance n keep prepared.docs in pak giv u totally opposite advice from docs in usa/canada.

Please bathe the baby's head and face and hands only in boiled or bottled water. Babies swallow bathwater however careful you are.
Take plenty of baby insect repellent and use it religiously every night. You do not want your child bitten by tropical insects.
Get your paediatricians cell phone number. It is very important that you (or the doctor in Pakistan) should be able to contact the regular paediatrician immediatly, if your child gets sick.
Do not try any desi totkas, for baby well being unless your doctor knows what you are doing.
Only breastfeed the child. No formula, no water, no solids, no "tonics". Do not give the baby anything orally, that was not produced by your body. This way all the antibodies against germs in the environment and food, that you produce will be transferred to the child on a timely and regular basis. This will ensure that the child remains healthy.
Be careful who is handling the baby. Go ahead and be rude and insist that they wash thier hands before they handle the baby. The baby is not used to the tropical germs the handlers may carry on thier skin and in thier respiratory system.
Make sure all innoculations are upto date and carry a record with you.
Good luck with the birth of your baby and your trip.
