Has any one here returned to the US or gone to the US after visiting Pakistan?
Did they raise an eyebrow over the Pak visit/visa?
Jst wondring…

Re: Travelling to US AFTER visiting pak
just make sure your name is not Abdel or Abdul or Abdol or Muhammad or Mohamad or any such derivations. Also do not wear arabic clothing and long beard. Most importantly, in the disembarcation card, DO NOT write camel for gender.
Just kidding - as long as you have nothing to hide, there is no need to worry. I beielev PIA is flying shiploads of people atleast thrice a week and actually owns a hotel in mid-town (except they have managed to make it as unpolished as a desi hotel)
Re: Travelling to US AFTER visiting pak
Seeing as I've been traveling to Pak since I was 5, no I can't remember any strange loooks or raised eyebrows upon return..
Re: Travelling to US AFTER visiting pak
I've never had any problems, but then again I'm a US citizen. As long as your story is straight when u go through customs, you should be fine.
Re: Travelling to US AFTER visiting pak
no, im a us citizen n we travel w/ my mom ( a pakistani citizen) so they dont care.. its easier for women than it is for men to go through security w.o. get looks for the pakistan stamp..
Re: Travelling to US AFTER visiting pak
When I went to the USA last July the immigration dude raised an eyebrow at the Pak visa in my UK passport.
He asked if a held a passport for any other country, so I very carefull replied that "No, I do not hold a valid** passport for any other country."
Re: Travelling to US AFTER visiting pak
I see. I have just heard of harder times then usual thru customs and so on.
Re: Travelling to US AFTER visiting pak
Are U a terrorist? If not..then you should be ok.
Re: Travelling to US AFTER visiting pak
Pakistani visit/visa is not a problem, per se. Many of my friends have went and returned from Pakistan. However, it depends on your name, and whether it matches with the list of terrorists that they cross-check against.
Generally, if you have a fairly common name, it may just match in that list, and then they will take you for further checking. The additional checking will be done in about 1-2 hours. If you are not the person they are looking for, then you will be let go. Otherwise, its really bad news. Although chances are that if your name matches with the terrorist list, they will not allow you to fly into US anyway.
Re: Travelling to US AFTER visiting pak
My uncle has been a US citizen for around 30 years. He was driving back from Canada late last year, with his white Irish-American catholic wife beside him. Yet after seeing the year-old Pakistani Visa in his passport, he was made to get out of his car and given the full interrogation.
My family has an extremely unique name so it’s not possible that it was a case of mistaken identity.
He was let free 4 hours later, and even that was only after getting his Friends in High Places (he’s a rather well-connected long-term die-hard Republican) to scare the bejesus out the immigration guys at the border.
Re: Travelling to US AFTER visiting pak
I am sorry, maddy bhai jaan, my following comments are not related to your uncle at any rate. I have noticed that its usually the phannay khans who are given the real third degree.
I remember that Indian minister who complained about being mistreated, some Pak politicians who were mishandled, and I have a friend of mine who was kept waiting in the INS room for 3 hours and then let go. One thing that was common is all of them thought they are very important people, and I suspect tried to do some **dadagiri **dialogues with the INS folks.... and the INS folks decided "alright, if thats how you wanna play the game, sure, lets play it that way!!!" and grilled them extra hard.
Re: Travelling to US AFTER visiting pak
What sins have us Pakistanis committed that we are treated like this the world over?
