Travelling to Pakistan on Cathay Pcific

I am planning travelling to Pakistan from Vancouver through Hong Kong using Cathay Pacific airlines. Has anyone used this route before and what was your experience? I’ll have to stay at HK airport for 8 hours and I dont know what I’ll be doing for 8 hours. I wouldnt mind going out for a little sighseeing but then I dont want to miss my plan. Plus, I am canadian citizen (Pakistani travelling on Canadian Passport.. LOL) and I wonder if i might have to go through extra security just cuz I am a muslim. I am avoiding USA alltogether just for this same reason cuz I heard they give everyone (all canadians) tough time at the airports.

Flew Hong Kong - Vancouver. A long flight, make sure you get a good seat. Maybe you can get in a quick visit to the city - about 4 hours? Unless IATA rules have changed, if the connecting time is more than 6 hours the airline is supposed to provide you hotel and food. Check with your travel agent. If you're travelling on a cheapo ticket then unlikely.
Let us know how the trip goes.

I've always wanted to fly that route, too bad my stupid parents jumped off in Toronto a million years ago. Take the photo machine, and post them on the net machine.

Cathay is pretty good. But its a loooong flight. See if you can get the exit row seat for better leg room.

I used to go out in HK during the connection. The new airport is about 45 mins (minimum) from the shopping district, so keep that in mind when venturing out.
