Travelling on American Airlines!!!

I will be travelling with AA this Sunday to Germany! Haven’t taken an international flight in a while. Anything I should keep in mind??? [except ofcourse that i will be strip searched at the chicago airport :-P]

hmmm

no pointy/sharp stuff that ‘can be used as a weapon’ in ur cabin luggage…let ur imaginatiom run wild coz the imagination of the security staff sure is wild…they took my favorite hairclip away :teary1:

get to the airport early so u have time to board the plane after all the searching

dont read anything on the plane…someone might complain about you k u might be reading a terrorism manual  happenned to someone i know…

dont order Muslim meal, order vegetarian instead…otherwise when they come and give it to u and announce MUSLIM loudly, ppl around u might get scared… :hoonh: something my friend told me to do..i dont care tho i still ordered Muslim meal for my flight on monday…

good luck n have a safe trip

Yeah..don't act like a terrorist.

I'm not sure about AA, but I went to Germany a couple of months ago via Lufthansa. Nothing out of the ordinary happened. Just use common sense. That'll come in handy. :-p

Irem, usually they just say 'special meal'. But who knows.
Reading your list of don't-do's reminds me of the time I went. It was during the breakout of Sars in Toronto. My sister advised me to not cough. :-D There was this lady sitting on the seat behind me and she wasn't well. She had a flue (I think) and was coughing non stop. People actually left their seats and moved elsewhere. Some covered their mouths with blankets. The ones who actually had masks, only took 'em off while eating. I found it quite entertaining.

heart beat, sorry to de-rail it a bit. Enjoy your trip. :-)

well i will be taking a back pack(for my notebook and other electronic gadgets) as a carry-on luggage and perhaps an additional personal item. it might include pda…charger…mp3 player..wires..external h/d…and perhaps a book or two!! i hope they don’t make a fuss about it.

and its a one way ticket too

coming to think of it now i think i should have bought a ticket for a non us carrier … but aa were offering the cheapest fare

btw did u have to give their interview thingy(to the ins) or u didn’t have to??

i think i am going to have a lot of fun !!! oh yeeaahh!!!

Matsui:

and how do u do that?

well i don't have a beard and i guess i can greet the concerned officer with a nice "hey whats up nigaa" and a big smile on my face!!! that might help!!

Well I am guessing its going to be different with the AA compared to Lufthansa.

NO Heart beat..Just don't look or act like Irem, you would be fine...American airlines has a lot more leg room then other airlines. Keep that in mind

well i cannot look like irem no matter how hard i try. though i think it would be easier for girls to go through with out any hassle since they are less likely to be suspected of terrorism.

and no more aa since those idiots require me to get a return ticket. perks of being a desi. had to get another flight. so now i will be flying on 27th with Lufthansa and United Airlines.

on second thought thats what i wanted and thats what God gave me. damn He is good!! should have wished for something else....

it would be so much fun to be the first one to show up at the boarding counter and the last one to enter the airplane. :D

Not all desis have to get a return ticket. :hoonh:

^ only the original ones :p

Original ones? or the ones on the list?

haha It sure is going to be a long list then!

Geez Matsui leave her alone, have some respect or is it too much to ask from you!!!

heart beat, don't listen to irem's I-Heard-From-Somone and My-Friend-Told-Me stories. :) Feel free to travel with AAs. I flown to London from AAs last year, had no problem and wasn't strip at airport.

While booking your ticket or afterwards, you can order 'Special Meal' if you're taking AAs service as CareBear mentioned. :)

Few months back, my mum had to go Pakistan. She prefered to take the AAs to London and according to her the AAs staff were awesome. My mum does wear abaya but doesn't hide her face like most women do. She went alone by herself and everything was just as normal as before 9/11. When were boarding our mum and it was about time to for security check, the staff called Lady Security Officer specially for mum. The officier came in 2 mins, did the search. See what I mean?

Btw, just out of curiosity, hasn't the PIA starts its flight service from Chicago, New York to Karachi, Lahore?

didn't really have any problems. for my connecting flight i had to go through the security procedure which really wasn't that big of a deal. it was just boring and time consuming. and apparently(according to the security officer and it read SSS on my boarding pass) my airline had selected me for this extra security check. i wonder if they have directions from the government or its up to them. anywazz i will try a different carrier next time.(i also told this to the security officer hehe)

on a side note united airlines is an american airlines so i am guessing they had to be extra careful.

after arriving at the o'hare airport, there were no specific security checks for me nonewhatsoever.

i took pics on my way to chicago(connecting flight). will post them as soon as i get time too. i wanted to take pics from ord-fra so i asked them to book a window seat for me and they gave me an exit seat :-/
