yeah I'll fall in love too:P

hey chameli.......do give us update on the trip. I wanted to travel from pak to india as well. i got some relatives there who i havnt even met lol. As far as i remember (this is back almost 3 years now) a canadian friend of my took a trip there. well he was a guy but he told me its pretty safe. As for wearing hijab or dupatta, as rani wrote........lot of muslim women wear hijab in india. its very common there. Also depending on the state you travel to, just take the small precautions as u prob know already like staying together all times, not roaming around late night, one of u should have cell, important emergency numbers at hand and those small things. just make sure to ENJOY.

haha.....just dont repeat the story of veerzara, it was really sad for the most part rite.

Re: Travelling from Pakistan to India

yeah i agree. i saw women with hijabs on too. its not thaaat common, but i think its getting to be popular amongst girls going to university and work.

Re: Travelling from Pakistan to India

I haven’t personally travelled via bus…so i can’t vouch the service..i tried looking up info for you but couldn’t find the info from pakistani side..maybe, someone from lahore can tell you..or maybe you can contact ptdc or punjab tourism..that’s something i found from the delhi side..it might be helpful to you i hope: http://dtc.nic.in/lahorebus.htm

i did travelled last year from pakistan to india via PIA from karachi though..and i got my visa from toronto’s indian embassy before leaving for pakistan-india’s trip. I do wear hijab myself..and i never found any problems. I, landed in delhi and then i took a train to kanpur…they have a fairly big muslim population..and most of the regions i visited were in UP..including lucknow and some villages..and most of the people there are used to hijabs, burkas, niqabs etc.

I am sure you’ll have a fun trip:) …it seems that you’ll be visiting delhi as you mentioned that your trip is only for 2/3 days..

Re: Travelling from Pakistan to India

Chameli you can wear what ever you want. Eastern western , traditional, modern whatever, no body cares. you will have problem if you are beautiful and wear sexy clothes ( i mean streets are full of majnoos). j/k.
Regarding safety, dont worry about it. you will be as safe as any indian is . If you tell me which city r u going then may be i can give you some info about where to go.
BTW dont tell people there that you are Chameli 420.( you know what i mean)

Re: Travelling from Pakistan to India

I you are a person who wears hijab for the right reasons, why would you considering switching to dupatta? I am not advocating one or the other but if you chose to wear hijab why consider the change for something as trivial as traveling to India.
It would be more understandable if you had to switch to dupatta if you were going to a western airport and they wouldnt let you go through unless you showed your face to match with the passport picture.

Re: Travelling from Pakistan to India

My mother and sister travelled from lahore to india a few years ago by the bus. Apart from it just being a long ride, they said it was pretty comfortable. I’m not sure about the ticket or visa costs though.
