Re: Travelling from Mancheser to Vienna
By train? Are you kidding? Even if there was a direct train connection between London and Vienna, which is not the case, it would take at least 20 hours. One option would be to go via Paris, but that would of course take even longer.
Since there are very cheap flights from London to Vienna on Air Berlin (www.airberlin.com) and even cheaper flights from London to Bratislava (1 hour drive from Vienna) on Ryanair (www.ryanair.com), you will probably want to look into that option.
Re: Travelling from Mancheser to Vienna
Also try skyeurope. (Me too looking for an air ticket to Manchester)
I was looking into http://www2.skyeurope.com/ but somehow their website wantes some confirmation number.
Re: Travelling from Mancheser to Vienna
ahh i know i did loook into air fares and they are cheap but i want to go by train and just see the area around as i am sick of flying.
im flying already from toronto to manchester and then from there onwards i would rather take train as i have got my uncle who lives in austria and italy so i guess dont matter how long does it take i would certainly take the train :)
Re: Travelling from Mancheser to Vienna
what's the name of your uncle?
Re: Travelling from Mancheser to Vienna
try this Coach Travel & Airport Transfers | National Express
takes 27 hours!
Re: Travelling from Mancheser to Vienna
Train will cost you hell loads of money & pretty much inconvenience since no direct train from Manc to Vienna. You take BR (British rail or rather Broken Rail) to London then from Waterloo take Eurostar to Paris. From Paris u can take TGV (fast train) that will connect u to stuttgart & then take ICE from there. Other option will be Thallys dont know if its still going to Stuttgart (from Paris) or not. Altogether you will be around £1200 for return trip to Vienna & time you will spend will be around 24 hours in the train (or on the stations). Also you may find language issues in train stations etc.
Good luck with your adventure.
Re: Travelling from Mancheser to Vienna

Good that you asked beforehand.
Re: Travelling from Mancheser to Vienna
No you dont have to go through Paris at all. try eurostar for trip to viena. if you go via bruslles, then it might be quicker. www.eurostar.com, they have opened a new terminal at Kings Cross to direct link trains from northern parts of UK
if you want to look around then use greenline or national express coaches, will take ages though. but will be very cheap compared to flights and trains.
Re: Travelling from Mancheser to Vienna
