Traveling with baby

I need some advice from people who have traveled with a baby from the US to Dubai or wherever (International).

I will be traveling next week with my 5 month old to Dubai. I’m taking a AA to JFK and then direct via Emirates to Dubai. I have booked a bassinet seat, so I’m not too concerned about that. I have one major dilemma: Should I travel with his car seat and stroller, or should I buy an umbrella stroller? I’m planning to check with American Airlines to see if I can take the carseat/stroller on board, but any personal experience from you guys will really help.

Also, does the AA plane directly connect to the JFK airport, or do we have to walk down the plane, collect the carryon baggage and walk up to the airport. This would be a nightmare in the case of collecting the carseat/stroller, placing baby in it and then walking up the stairs. Plus, it’s expected to be snowing that day (Dec 25th), and I’m kinda freaking out.

Any help in this matter will be very much appreciated. I also plan to call AA and double check on this.

Re: Traveling with baby

if you are allowed to take the stroller on board i suggest you buy one, but check the airline 1st...dont take the car seat....

Re: Traveling with baby

for long flight you need bulk head seat for urself and for babay request for the bassinet .

thanks girl on ice and sayyma, I've already looked into that.

Re: Traveling with baby

have a safe and happy journey....relaxed mama = happy baby ...tense mama = crying baby.....so the more relaxed( comfy clothes shoes)you are the more enjoyable the journey, and remember worrying wont help, but hoping for the best and expecting the worst will make things easy too....
